My sons love burgers, my daughter likes them but as a doctor she resists eating them. Where did I go wrong with my sons? sigh

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

At $20+ for a burger, it had better be an almost better than sex type experience eating it....

I imagine that's no different to saying McDonald's offers better value than Burger Fuel: sure that holds up in a basic price comparison, but I doubt this new chain's burgers are anything as plastic or basic as BK's or McD's!

Don't get me wrong, I'm occasionally swayed to eat at BK but I (and my guts) get fairly quickly reminded as to why I shouldn't go there. You certainly do get what you pay for at 'low-cost' places like this.

Equally, I'm not saying that Wahlburger isn't a rip-off - it seems completely to be so and, personally, I just can't fathom why anyone would be tempted to eat there - but I'd suggest it's mid-priced chains like Burger Fuel that offer truly 'better value' in terms of making decent food at an ok price.

I was actually torn the other night for dinner between Burger Fuel or Burger Wisconsin - haven't eaten at BK in 20 years.

In the end I think I went for a pizza 😃

McDonald's used to have a very good line of gourmet burgers but they got rid of it a few years ago, which made me a little bit sad.

What I read was that BK is bigger and cheaper. BK from the odd time I have it has a real meat pattie, whereas Maccas is , well i'm not sure what it is lol. Ignoring Maccas what can you put in a hamburger that makes it special? The Wahl review i read says its good but not great, much like if you go to a fish n chip shop some have better burgers than others

Yep, at any of these places you need the gourmet type before you can mark it out of 10

I don't know, I can't imagine $20 buys you much quality sex at all these days. But that seems like a topic for another thread, best viewed in incognito mode.

I read somewhere once that sex is ok but not as good as the real thing. Maybe thats what a Wahlburger is?

Speaking of In-N-Out...

https://www.stuff.co.nz/life-style/food-drink/300818352/innout-burger-is-popping-up-in-wellington-for-one-day--whats-all-the-fuss

In-N-Out is pretty good, they only do fresh, locally-sourced ingredients, so nothing frozen or that's been sitting in a cool store for a week. I don't normally do fast food anywhere but In-N-Out is one place I always go to when I'm in California.

In-N-Out burgers are delicious. They have a very limited menu but the burgers are the best.

They have a somewhat limited public menu. There's a whole other menu of stuff you can get if you know what to ask for, although for a one-day pop-up I doubt they'll be doing any of that.

Edited to add: Here's one article on all the stuff you can get. I have a friend who only eats the Flying Dutchman, which makes me queasy just thinking about it.

I have a perfectly functional jaw and burgers that can't be picked up and eaten as burgers are a bug-bear of mine.

At that point you're not serving a burger, it's a bread salad.

Or a Dagwood Burger.

I don't think any fast food burger beats a home made burger. Not for a second. I've watched numerous you tube videos on home made burgers and they honestly let you dissect each part of the burger. The bun... realistically I'm happy with store bought rather than making my own. Please toast your buns!

The meat patty... realistically I'm too lazy to buy a meat grinder and make my own mince. So it's either home made or a cheeky slit of a sausage to remove the skin then shape it into a patty. Some flavours are over powering 😬

The cheese... it's come to my attention we do not have american cheese, a cheese that melts at a lower temp. The same that is on McDonalds and appears in my you tube videos. It's available at costco but I don't think I could get through it in bulk. I've used mozzarella before. Edam my usual cheese... is such a burger disappointment 😬  I'm currently looking for 2nd best. Monterrey Jack gets a mention in you tube vids.

The sauce: definitely pickles, mayo, tomato sauce etc 😋 doesn't take long to make while the patty is cooking!

The in between bits aren't that difficult.

But despite these limitations I am still in awe of home made burgers. Just the way you like it 😋  So if you've pre-made the patty, you're going to win every time. It doesn't taste the same as a Big Mac or Burger Fuel but it tastes great every time.

Overseas: US I'm more of a shake shake fan than in-n-out. I've never tried Wahlberger but it just doesn't sound appealing as a must try... not even once! Australia: Ume burger or Betty's burger classic with egg 😋  Hood burger has been good to me also. I haven't tried five guys which if rumours are true is good. I tried some other five something... meh. The others I've tried just aren't memorable so I don't remember. This includes fergberg in Queenstown. Nothing to write home about and I have more nice things to say about their bakery!

My favourite you tube burger makers are Sam the cooking guy and Joshua Weissman 😋

Just typing about it makes my mouth water 😋
