We, the public should be doing more to support the Police. Bring a firearm out inappropriately, get dropped.

support them how?

can't do their job for them, they arrest you for that. especially if you use a firearm, thats double trouble. plus all legal firearm owners are considered crims by police anyway. so the last thing you ever want to do is help police out by dropping someone.

edit: i forgot, standard crim practice is to use that against people, ie shoot you because your carrying a firearm to your car to go hunting. also the standard practice of provoking someone to do something so you have an excuse to attack them.

Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they aren't out to get you...

I am almost lost for words. Did you think this through before writing it? At all? Even a tiny bit?

????

police are well known to prosecute self defence cases, especially when firearms are involved. even more so the threat was against someone else not you. its happened many many times. so i would not advise to help police by "dropping" a crim even tho they are armed. the repercussions to yourself can be big. police will drag you through the wringer even if they have no case against you.

and there is also many many cases where crims will provoke someone into defending themselves and then attack them claiming self defence. thats pretty much the norm. on the mild end you see it on road all the time, the stereotype bar fight, and at the bad end people have wound up dead. eg the case where a crim lured a rival to his house then shot him claiming self defence. crims will call police and say you attacked them even tho they just tried to rob you and bash you in your home, sadly like the poor guy recently.  if police let people "help police" then crims will also "help police" but to their own end. its a standard tactic.

Provide evidence of your "norms"

I'd settle for 5 examples out the 'many many' cases where criminals 'provoke' people into self-defense and then said defendant is prosecuted by police.
