I always go for physical media where I can, even DVDs if there's no higher quality available. Recording still works fine as well. Difficult to loose you own version, barring fire, flood, pestilence...

I left physical media behind in 2011. When we moved to Europe I ripped all my CDs to FLAC and donated the physical disc to the local Salvation Army shop. I haven’t bought any physical media since. 

 

I get all the arguments in favour of physical media, but I just prefer the convenience of digital. I know it costs me more but, we all pay for convenience every day.
