dukester:
He had other ones in storage boxes, didn't photograph all. If you have any queries you can phone him. number is on this website. he runs a furniture store. https://millikens.co.nz/
Cheers for that. Might drop him a line anyway and see if can negotiate on some :)

Looking at image again, can see some pricing... hes being a scalper. $10 for current ones that can be picked up for $3 at Warehouse etc. :(
Yep thats the way it goes. Not just JDM, I collect Land Rover Defender HW. Same deal, hard to find in store and end up on TM etc for $10+ for mainline.
Also FWIW I know some HW collectors (scalpers?) will offer (with management) to unpack the boxes at TWH. For free labour they get first pick. So its not just TWH staff that do this.
Source: My son worked at TWH
Yeah this does occur as well.
I've removed myself from any NZ HW groups/forums now, so I don't get frustrated at the scalpers :D If I don't see it, I don't know about it ;)

Hot Wheels Basic Cars - $2 @ The Warehouse (Friday 22 December)
I'm just stoked I managed to get the Lancia Stratos.
I've lost track of what I have and don't have :D I did get an awesome deal from Mighty Ape this week though while picking up another order...
They had this (pic stolen from google) for $25!! Due to slight damage on the box :D
Bonus Xmas present to myself :)

bruhh, who bought/stole all the altezzas??!! I'm gonna tell Santa...
Might start a new Hot WHeels post.....
Scalpers :D
We were lucky the other day, daughter was at Warehouse when a staff member emptied 4 boxes into the bins - she dove in and managed to get Skylines, Civics etc before scalpers arrived :D So Im happy I finally got the Skyline :D
We were at the door for opening today as they have HW for $2 each (today only). Got a few I wanted but nothing amazing, all the sought after ones were long gone.

Can confirm WH staff have first pickings. Long ago I went into store and the HW aisle. Looked high above and saw an opened HW box. I was tall enough to grab it and found gold! Mostly JDMs, like classic civic and '99 Impreza WRXs. Took everything to checkout and bought the lot, HAH! Obviously a staff had tried to stash the good stuff in that box for themselves. Thanks for the bargain, Warehouse.
xpd:clinty:xpd:....Theres one particular one I want at the moment, but cant find because its been swiped by scalpers. But I'll live without it.....
What are you looking for?
ClintIdeally after 2, one to open, one to keep as original.
From the store's perspective they could choose to enforce 'customers only' but at the end of the day, the sale occurs, they're happy?
Scalping i.e. buying to resell for profit, that's well over the other side of the line though. Likely a breach of their employment conditions.
and I would not be surprised if that applies whether sold at staff discount or not. If you're an employee you can't then 'compete' with your employer, as a rule.
Just came across this article on Stuff:
https://www.stuff.co.nz/world-news/350157756/why-us-target-workers-were-fired-buying-stanley-cups
Seems that Target employees in the US tried similar with an in demand item as what is potentially going on at The Warehouse with the Hot Wheels. These guys got sacked for it:
Did Eric Clapton really think she looked wonderful...or was it after the 15th outfit she tried on and he just wanted to get to the party and get a drink?

For those wondering why Target would be selling the Stanley Cup (an ice hockey trophy) like I was, Target were actually selling travel drinking cups. Apparently these cups have become quite desirable, although they look pretty similar to many other far more inexpensive travel drinking cups to me.
