As an aside there is no point in paying more to see this film in Imax. It was filmed in 2.39:1 AR so the image was cropped.  It would have been better to see it in the VMAX screen which is cheaper and has Dolby Atmos.

Is Dolby Atmos better than IMAX speakers? I thought they had nice 12 channel sound, and I thought it was often Dolby? Can't find any info now unfortunately

IMAX is just multichannel sound with the sound content and levels set in the sound track. I think it can be from 6 - 12 channels. Not sure what system is installed at Reading LH.

Dolby Atmos can have up to 64 channels. The difference is Atmos has active steering of the sound so a sound sound source can be steered to any of the speakers depending on the sound designer's intention. Given there are so few real Imax releases, next time if i go to Reading I will go to the Dolby Atmos theatre

With major studios only having a 30-45 day cinema period before VOD release theres no real incentive to see a film day 1. I can happily wait 6 weeks and pay a fraction of that.
