Regarding detection,

Pentaerythritol tetranitrate - Wikipedia

In the wake of terrorist PETN bomb plots, an article in Scientific American noted PETN is difficult to detect because it does not readily vaporize into the surrounding air.[40] The Los Angeles Times noted in November 2010 that PETN's low vapor pressure makes it difficult for bomb-sniffing dogs to detect.[19]

A much easier approach would have been to wire in a standard blasting cap.  Sealed, self-contained, easily detonated with wires already set up, the IDF would have boxes of them lying around, and the end result looks like some random piece of electronics, e.g. the pager vibrator.  You don't need to do anything exotic and potentially failure/error-prone, simple and off-the-shelf is fine.

PETN google trends.  Generally it's flatlined over time but since 02/09 it suddenly ramps up

That could be anything.  Primacord (PETN) is widely used in mining and demolitions, so all it'd take is a news story of the IDF using it in Gaza, or Hamas smuggling it into Gaza, or whatever, to trigger lots of searches.

Which religion are you talking about?

Islam. From what I know you aren't allowed to keep dogs, except for hunting and guarding. They aren't to be kept as pets because they're impure.

cruxis:

No one thought to crack one open and check what is inside before putting it into service. That is piss poor opsec for terrorist organization.

The keyword is "terrorist organization (sic)".

Dumb idiots. Also, that's what you get when you are carrying a device that a terrorist organisation gives to its members.

Eracode: This begs the question of how the perp got access to the pager network and was able to send to all pagers at the same time - maybe a disguised software update?

Pagers in most of the world are mostly used for specialized cases and where security is not a paramount consideration. It's old tech. On that basis pager systems are probably full of holes that no-one ever looks for, and probably no reward programs exist either.

I had heard that apparently Hezbollah run their own private pager network,  therefore anyone on it was seen by Israel as a legit target,

Why would you go around with a pager provided by Hezzbollah, a sanctioned terrorist organisation?

Has anyone told the Salukis that are kept all over the levant 🤣🤣

If you are going to split hairs the dog is fine. It’s its saliva that is impure.

Sure, ignore the references. As I said, Islam is full of contradictions and "leaders".

Also, I saw your question as bait. I took it because I knew there was going to be a retort. I was not wrong.

That's what you get in a religion founded by a cat-lover :-).

Were they actually pagers or did Hezbollah get a bulk deal on Samsung Galaxy Note 7.

Second wave of explosions in Lebanon, this time in handheld radios acquired at about the same time as the pagers.  Wow, they're really not doing this by halves.
