A corporate shouldn't be buying weird off-brand gear.  They'll be buying trusted gear at higher prices that won't cost them more money later on.

For the first time in ages, I went to Jaycar in Link Drive (Auckland N Shore) around lunchtime on Friday. I bought 2m of twin-core cable off a reel and a strip of choc-block connectors - total $7.

There were two sales staff and no other customers there in the 10-15 minutes I spent purchasing then looking around. Big store full of well-presented, attractive stock. Two 3D printers whirring away printing demo pieces.

Have to echo the thread title - hard to figure their existence.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

They don't only sell weird off brand stuff. They sell a lot of the uncommon parts and components you used to get at Dick Smith before it became a big box retailer.
