This thread is lol. I am a consumer rights crusader and can't see the problem. The retailer is willing to help (or at least hasn't declined). The manufacturer wishes remedy to be via the retailer but is not refusing (it seems) to put problems right.

Molehill. Mountain.

Go to the disputes tribunal tbh. You will get what you ask for minus $30. Instead of getting a free resolution from a retailer that has a pretty decent track record by all accounts.

dickytim: there's a reason I'm emailing them - whenever I call I get stuck talking to the same person who is even less helpful than the person i'm emailing!

savag3: thanks, will do just that! I did mention that legally they have to deal with me directly, will back that up with specific references to various Acts and so on in my next email ;-)

GO GET 'EM, unfortunately the person you get on the phone is usually a bottom level CS person who in this case is not aware of your rights.

Good luck and I hope you FINALLY get thru to someone useful before you have to resort to drastic action.
