tardtasticx: Anyone here who has been really really wasted. what does it feel like seriously?

If you can answer this, you werent really really wasted.

I drink things I like to drink ... so a nice old whisky or some other spirit with character in it. But then I also like to drink rough red wine which you could strip paint with :-)
but I don't like those weedy fizzy beers (dark ales are ok) .. guess i have a sweet tooth.

I rarely drink to the point where I feel affected and I never drink when I'm going to be the driver ... the pubs down my way always give the designated driver free soft drinks which is a good idea.

I've a theory about the people who drink to get smashed, I'm think that most of them were denied alcohol by their parents when they were kids and were probably always told that they were not old enough, so that when they got old enough to buy their own drinks they take it to excess, sort of "Woohoo look at me I have beer!!!". I was raised where if I wanted an alcoholic drink when I was a kid my parents would oblige me (we're talking about in social situations here .. not I'm off to school can I have a bottle of brandy :-) so when I hit the age where my friends were going "Woohoo look at me I have beer!!", it was no big excitement for me ... and it's the attitude I am going to take with my twin boys ... once they learn to speak :-)

Everyones tastes, upbringing and attitudes to life are different I guess.

Like staggeringly wasted?

Ever spun around so much you fall over and feel like vomiting? Multiply that by 10 and you're getting close. Imagine standing on a floor that periodically goes lop-sided and you lose your footing.

Helped a friend empty their alcohol cabinet before moving house a few years ago... had all these spirits, creams, liquers with only a shot glass left in each bottle...so I drunk them all. Must have been at least 20 shots that night.... I was pissed but knew what i was doing etc - until a friend hit me in the arm and I slid down the wall and couldnt get back up :)

Got dragged into the car and taken home... next morning the wife asked how I was feeling expecting "like %&%"...but i felt fine, no hangover or dehydration :)

Thats the worse Ive been ;) Alcohol affects different people if different ways, so each has their own level of being "wasted". Above was my being "wasted" yet to others thats nothing....

most drinks give a good buzz, except a locally made one from new plymouth....
my sister bought some and ended up hiffing the whole box after one sip.

I did some wine tasting at Alana Estate last week and seriously, you can't taste the alcohol in a really good wine, it's just full of flavours, one of the Reislings tasted exactly like peaches mixed with grapes....but cost $120 a bottle so I didn't drink more than 1 glass

As others have mentioned, not everyone does it for peer pressure, or to get wasted. Some like the taste, i agree with the beer tasting one, Epic, Tuatara and a lot of the other overseas beers(various Trappist and Belgian beers) are great to taste, it's just more a sensory thing...in saying that, I never spit at a wine tasting, but I can handle my alcohol and I know when I at my limit

I have moved across the ditch. Now residing in Melbourne as a VOIP/Video Technical Trainer/Engineer.

HAHA yes, I have had tonnes worse, I try to see how long it takes to get banned, then every time they make me change it, I make it that much worse. :D

tardtasticx: Everyone I know drinks, And its really frustrating me. I really hate the taste and smell of alcohol but everyone else loves it. Why is that? Life seems to be revolving around drinking now

I can relate. My partner doesn't drink at all either (she wasn't brought up with alcohol, can't stand the smell as well) but I don't really mind though. I don't particularly drink myself, last time I had a glass of wine was last year when I went back home to France to visit my family lol
