DjShadow: They just said on TV1 that all Vodafone Cellsites in chch are on Battery back up, only 3-8hrs battery life and priority given to voice calls

Interesting. Some time ago, when talking to Telecom New Zealand about power supply to some South Islan remote properties we were told some farmers had additional batteries supplied that they could replace in case of need of extra power to some cell sites in their properties.

Yeah our cells have dropped out now, have still got office phones but this was out for a good 3 hours after the earthquake.

Why is everyone saying Vodafone cell are going down and not mentioning XT or 2D? Are they using different backup solutions?

I'm assuming its only because Vodafone have been the only network to release a press statement?

2 Degrees goes down, then comes back up. Telecom, I have no idea, I have never actually been on their network.
Another quite massive aftershock as I was typing this.

I'm trying to download all the photos on stuff's page, however its just saving 24 x the same photo. I've tried using firefox and IE8. What am I doing wrong? If I try view photo, instead of showing photo I'm looking at it shows the first one.

Just felt another aftershock in Timaru.
