Seems this scam is still doing the rounds, got an email this morning with title "Please restore your account access!" and a link pointing to http://trademe.co.nz.members.login.aspx.userverificationax988.definitivephotography.com/
About an hour later another one came in "Please restore your account access! Last warning!" this time with a link to http://trademe.co.nz.members.login.aspx.userverificationax988.firespray.net/

Both have been reported to abuse@trademe.co.nz but might pay to keep eyes open, seems this scam is not dying easely

Yeah, I got both of those today too. I have already contacted the owner of definitivephotography.com and he's already blown it all away and restored his account from scratch, changed password. Bastards deleted all his stuff. :-/

SteveON: I received this email, it contains an attachment of an HTML page and is from a non-trademe email address. If you ask me; if you get caught up in this scam, you deserve it.

sorry but i completely disagree, someone who isnt computer savvy, and only uses a computer for emails and the odd website, wont know to hover over a link and check where it takes you before actually clicking on it.

yes these are pretty easy to spot if you know to look for them, but most people dont.  they're not stupid or deserve to be taken advantage of, they just dont know.  if my car broke down and it was just a tiny thing, and the mechanic said i needed a complete engine overhaul i wouldnt know and would believe him.

i wish trademe would contact gmail, or gmail would be smart enough to look at a link and tell it was clearly spam. two of these emails ended up in my gmail inbox in the last 4 hours

That is why html emails are so dangerous. Banks also use them , and include links in the,, and it isn't easy to pick a scam one from a normal one, unless you are familiar with these scams. I have had several of these, as well as legitimate trademe marketing emails, and they are all very similar.

I've had a few of these. Anyone who doesn't realise it's fake probably shouldn't be on the net.

I do find that TradeMe just really don't care about stuff like this though. They are as bad to deal with as Vodafone and thats saying something!

That is probably the majority of people who use the net, as some of them are done very well and the link is hidden in the html, although some are pretty obvious.

Cloud spending continues to surge globally, but most organisations haven’t made the changes necessary to maximise the value and cost-efficiency benefits of their cloud investments. Download the whitepaper From Overspend to Advantage now.

Trade Me do care about phishing scams and they actively work with New Zealand police to bring any scammers to courts.

Now, they can't do much if someone idiot sends emails out, can they?
