Tried to buy a couple off skywatches.com.sg, unfortunately neither were in stock and there was no others I wanted instead off.
wound up ordering from nzwatches.com and paying NZ dollars but hopefully get the one I wanted.

I'm always buying toys/ation figures etc from offshore sites and the strong $ just makes that so much more attractive then local purchasing.

Ive ordered a Canon 600D DSLR off ebay.
US Ebay, US dollars....But its shipping direct from Hongkong.
Im hoping NOT to get stung with import tax....shall know in a week or so.

A heap of friends are getting offroad rc cars, so ive had a look around and ordered one today. Ordered the batterys from Amazon, expensive shipping for them!

I havnt really noticed a _huge_ difference in the exchange with aussie, but the website I brought the rc car itself off has a NZ and AU website. I saved about $40 by ordering it from the aussie website in aussie dollars (orders from either websites still ship from hongkong)

I buy shoes and football boots from Pro Direct. Got two pairs of Nike boots for my son delivered for $50 instead of $90 each, a pair of Asics Kayano 17 for $150 and two pairs of Adidas Samba for $150. Every order Ive made has been delivered within a week of ordering.

Ive just bought two pairs of Gap jeans, delivered for $150 although it was a friend who bought them in London and shipped them rather than Gap, who's delivery price is horrendous.

I bought a couple of docking stations, car chargers and usb cables from dealextreme for peanuts and see them on TM for four times the price.

Finally I buy car parts off ebay. The prices are so cheap I tend to bring a couple of sets in and sell the rest to cover the cost of what I bought in the first place. I did that with football shirts last season and made a couple of hundred dollars.

I tried to buy a set of Grado 325i's a while back but the seller was told in no uncertain terms by Grado themselves not to sell them overseas and it that fell through. The saving there was massive compared to the NZ price.

Honestly, my Paypal account is getting a hammering at the moment. If I can pay these prices and still have them delivered for half what they sell for on the street here, someone in NZ must be making a killing.

From Steam + Amazon UK.

Steam - loads of games at good prices with the USD (even better during Sales)

Amazon UK - Our usual 6 monthly haul which ends up being half the price of the cheapest online/retail outlets there.

A particularly good catch is the "Complete Far Side" - two hardcover books with all (including unpublished) far side comics - 4000+ !! Amazon UK have it on special for 50GBP (so around $100NZD) and are doing free delivery to NZ for orders over 25GBP until August.

Cheapest here was around $260 excluding shipping.

It's win win - no wonder the retailers want to lower the GST cap from $400 to $50.

Just a question for those people that have bought electronic goods off Amazon US. What's the easiest way to get around Amazons no shipping electronic gear overseas policy as there are a few things I would quite like to buy at the current exchange rate.

I tried a few packages from $100 to $500, 8x4x2in to 12x4x4in both 2kg, prices were about US$50-$60. That's not so bad, but it's a lot more expensive than if they used the US Postal Service.

I guess they need tracking to make sure people don't claim packages don't arrive.

I'm on a business trip with about half a doz mates which is allowing us to have an overnight in Honolulu next week. Our order so far when we get to the apple store is : 2 x iPhone 4, 2 x 13" MacBook air, 1 x iPad 2, 1 x apple tv and possible 1 x iMac 21.5.
The stupid thing is that any store processing that sale would give kickbacks but we are expecting nothing. Dirty old Apple!!
Mates are going to get AppleCare with the iPhones so they get an international warranty.

I've dumped USD$6,000 on a travel card for a couple of trips I'm making to the US this year. But at the rates 72c, 80c, 81.5c and 83.2c. The rate just keeps climbing, but at least I know what I'm in for when I do travel!

sbiddle: Best advice if you buy stuff regularly is to buy a $US prepaid credit card such as the ANZ Travel Cards and load it up with money. If the $ falls to 50c you're still buying stuff at the current ~85c rate.

Careful though - some online stores will not accept prepaid cards (presumably due to fraud etc).

Use a US bank issued card instead as retailers can often tell if you are using a local or overseas card for the transaction
