Worth mentioning that AirNZ are codesharing with Pacific Blue on Tasman routes, last flights I booked between Christchurch and Brisbane I ended up booking at AirNZ  on pacific blue operated flights, and it was cheaper than booking at pacific blue, although primarily because I didn't use credit card from memory and I don't think PB provided any other methods.

For domestic flights, AirNZ most definitely! Ive had very little bother from them for the past few years ive been flying 10 times a year with them. I think only once or twice have I ever been delayed.

For the sake of a piddly 3.5 hour flight, I'd take Jetstar, why waste $100? The holiday is about the holiday not the necessary travel from A to B

AirNZ, then Emirates. Positively wont fly Quantas and Im not impressed with V Australia, although I have to admit they are 100 times better than Delta. Man they are sooo the bottom of the pit....

AirNZ cost me an extra $1000 to do my last trip, but I happily paid it. One thing I have found.. the travelling experience totally alters your holiday or work trips. It makes it or breaks it.

ps.. when travelling with V, remember to pack your own panadol. You are only allowed to purchase 2 from the plane for a 12 hr trip..and you have to pay by credit card..(rolls eyes)

We had a slightly different crappy experience. My partner had OneWorld points about to expire with Qantas so we got one return ticket on the points, and paid for another one. When we bought from Qantas they did say it may be operated by "partner" airlines or some such but didn't state which one. Well, turned out to be Jetstar! Staff were rude and condescending and yup, our return flight was cancelled! Thankfully we managed to get home the night before the latest big snow dump. Never again will I go with Qantas or Jetstar!

AirNZ yes, but having found ourselves the victim of Qantas and ash cloud at the end of June and deciding that the only way we were ever going to get to the USA was via Sydney - we flew Emirates from Auckland to Sydney. It was a very pleasant experience and was actually considerably cheaper than AirNZ.

Emirates are awesome! Also aren't they part of the Star Alliance? Along with AirNZ so often you will be booked via AirNZ and end up on Emirates and vice versa.

I just did a trip to Melbourne and flew AirNZ there and Virgin home. Couldn't really fault either but the free entertainment system on AirNZ is awesome! Have to pay for a screen on Virgin.
So AirNZ in my eyes.

Oh and a tip, I got caught out. I had 23kg of luggage booked but when I got there I was told that's only in one bag. You have to pay $50 if you have less than that in 2 bags! Wasn't stated on my ticket booked via webjet. Bugger.

Spectacular thread... I doubt there's another A vs B thread on Geekzone with such vigorous agreement...

And for the record, I wouldn't touch Jetstar either. AirNZ for me nationally, and Emirates / AirNZ international.

Cheers - N

Jetstar are great value for money when they get you to where you want to go and you arrive when you expect. If you have low expectations you should be fine.

Air New Zealand for flights in NZ. Cathay Pacific / Qantas for flights internationally. I have expereienced more issues with delayed flights with Air New Zealand than I have Cathay / Qantas.

Would not touch Jetstar having had friends expereince cancelled flights, late flights, booking system muck ups etc.
