My Newshub has stopped at 6.30. Is this a coincidence or is it nationwide? It keeps buffering. Still doing it 6.35pm

Still at 6.43 and everything else seems fine.

Working fine for me.

My buffering of it was quite choppy too - I guess a lot of people must have been watching it tonight. What I was able to watch made me quite sad, lots of good people losing their jobs there 🙁

I had imagined they were doing it to signal the end but seems other users also working fine. Mine is only doing it on Channel 3 and still doing it. I’ve turned off everything including router and still buffering every few minutes but not on other channels. Watching via a dongle. Annoying.

Ahh good to hear quicklysmart. Yes it is very sad seeing so many lose their jobs. Quite depressing.

The young one is watching Eden and it’s now also buffering. Weird. I’m in Wellington on OneNZ

Aren't you on the m3u8 stream rather than the app?

Following on (if you couldn't watch it), The Spinoff reviews the last Newshub bulletin:

I may be a bit old fashioned but  in the past years my wife and I have gotten into the routine of watching TV3 news each night. It's sort of passive watching but we do like their weather presentation and segments of interest turn up that you would not necessarily encounter while just browsing news site.

We find it quite relaxing just sitting there and not staring at a device. I wonder what the Stuff news is going to be like. I guess we will find out on Monday?

Yes will be quite a high bar to try and meet, I'll be interested to see what it's like too. I guess with Samantha Hayes still presenting there's going to be some familiarity for viewers.

While the presenters and field reporters are the face of the news, it's the editors who shape what is broadcast. I am always surprised when I see a lead off item, breaking news event on TV3 but when I go to TV1 there is no mention of the news. It's going to be interesting to see what focus Stuff will have since they will not be able to emulate their web presence which is just a bunch of articles designed to get clicks and if you want "real" news you go to the Post and pay.

First bulletin tonight. Felt a bit compressed trying to fit everything (news, sports, weather) into 30 minutes but they got there in the end. The host (Laura) directed viewers to Stuff's website afterwards. No mention was made of Newshub shutting down the night before.

The Newshub website now refers you to Stuff's page, and all the articles have been removed:

Stuff? Yeah, nah. Time to install the RNZ app, I think - there's no way I'm putting the abomination that Stuff's new! improved! app is now on my phone again.

Edit, the Herald did a review as well: https://archive.ph/CaCzD

Nice to see ThreeNews broadcast in full HD. Newshub was terrible video quality.

are you sure?
Still looks absolutely terrible to me in the threenow app. Hurts my eyes.

As soon as it switches to a commercial there is a huge jump in image quality.

I did. It wasn't too bad but that was a compressed 30 min bulletin and even then Samantha Hayes had time to do a magazine piece on a black mongrel member graduating from University.
