Its nice to be reminded that you can never have too much bad taste (not that the Cullinan was that wonderful to begin with) -

Just bought tickets to an upcoming Fever Candlelight Orchestra event.

Candlelight Orchestra: A Tribute to Queen

We went one of these last year where they did a Tribute to Daft Punk which was incredible so I'm really looking forward to see/hear what they do with Queen's music.

Admit it took me a moment to click, but priceless.

Reminded me of someone very old overseas who appears this way on FaceTime and with flashes of the ceiling.

I love it.
Most video calls with my parents are generally audio, with a view into mum's nostrils, while dad is somewhere else in the room, constantly asking if we can see him.

I don't get motion sick, unless I'm on a video call with my mum. These days I threaten to hang up unless she puts phone down on something solid.

That just gave me a good chuckle visualising that and thinking of my parents :-)

When our parents went overseas some years ago we got a web cam sent to their address there so they could talk to us. They had huge problems getting it working, audio was fine but the video was just a washed-out green blur. After several days of on-and-off experimentation and testing everything possible, we asked them if there was a lens cap, and if so could they remove it. Suddenly the video was fine.

Thanks for that! Just booked tickets to the Ennio Morricone tribute on Thursday.

For anyone else doing this, they really, really want you to think you can only use the app for your tickets. As far as I can tell you can also use the QR code in the email they send you without having to install their stupid app.

It's called paying it forward :)

I wasn't aware he offered the service, but if he will sit nearby and tell me the charge level of my wireless mouse, I think that might be something small that would make me smile :)

Ah yes, the fractal & loopy nature of the internet.

And now Linux will get another email notification because I quoted @eracode who @ mentioned Linux. 🤪😆😇

Orkland bus drivers dealing with their pay dispute not by striking but by not collecting fares on their routes. The standard industrial action hurts passengers a lot more than their employer, while this option directly affects their employer without the passengers becoming collateral damage.

The realisation that the world has not become crazier, but that it always has been. Only the insane speed and frequency of communication gives this impression. Since I've been using a hard-wired message filter (on/off switch), it's already getting better. 😊

Having 15 minutes to transfer international flights and making it. It really helps we didn’t get rescreened but I came out on the pier and my connection was 10 stands away and it was still open. A very contrasting experience at Istanbul Grand to Munich. I’m sure in Munich the computer would have said no.

Edit: let’s see if my bag makes it as well 🤞

It didn’t make it. No big deal, it’ll get dropped off tomorrow.
