Once Upon A Time In Hollywood DVD 7.5/10

The latest effort from Tarantino was strangely unengaging. Maybe it was possibly because the dialogue wasn't quite as sharp as usual or that the second part of the film veered into a different story line.

Brad Pitt was excellent in a part that suited him and Di Caprio was pretty reasonable too. The movie was well crafted but just something missing.

Maybe I need to watch it again.

Alien 20th anniversary box set in 4k UHD on my Sony A1 64" Directors cut version 10/10

It was really very good..the dark scary scenes in spaceship very impressive. No visual distortion or grain. Flash light beams and flames crisp. Lovely beams of light through smoke and mist..

Alien scenes reinforce less is more. Show too much and it looks like a bloke in a suit.

Watched it late on Sunday evening on headphones over Bluetooth as everyone else in house asleep.

Reminds me of the first time I saw it on Sunday horrors in mid 80's as a teenager when I snuck out of bed and watched from 2 feet away from the screen with the sound low as to not wake my parents in the pitch black....

Hell Comes to Frogtown What can I say? It stars an ex-WWF wrestler who is one of the only potent men still around after a nuclear war and is given the job of finding and impregnating fertile women. Not many laughs, plenty of cringing. I knew it wasn't a good movie but hoped it might be bad in a good way, unfortunately I was wrong. 3/10.

Replicas on Netflix. Wow what a shocker. I had to skip a large portion of it

I started watching it months ago and quickly lost interest and completely forgot about it till Netflix offered it up again. Watch it if only for the lols of how bad a movie can be.

Keanu Reeves’ family dies in a car crash, he pulls their bodies out of the half submerged car at which point you realise he’s not a good crier. Eventually you convince yourself that’s because he is doing research on cloning people and maybe he’s not so upset because he can resurrect them. Yeah, it’s that bad and does not get better.

You're not on Atlantis anymore, Duncan Idaho.

Ah yes...forgot that I had also watched this recently.

It's a really poor movie.

Tenet
4/10

I'm not really sure what I watched, the story didn't make much sense to me, but there were some nice action scenes. Maybe this is one of those time travel movies where you have to watch it half a dozen times to fully understand what's going on, but at 2.5 hours long I certainly don't have the time to waste on that. Why should people have to watch a movie multiple times just to understand it?!? I also found it a bit hard to hear what the actors were saying at times as the music was so loud.

I've heard this said multiple times. I may have to watch it with headphones on to really get the sound piped into my lugholes.

Newshub: 'RIP cinema': US Movie-goers stunned as Warner Bros pledges to release entire 2021 slate on HBO Max streaming service

Warner Brothers has announced its entire 2021 movie release schedule - including highly-anticipated films such as Matrix 4 and Dune - will be released on US streaming service HBO Max at the same time as cinemas.

The news comes after the movie studio confirmed Wonder Woman 1984 would be released for HBO Max subscribers this Christmas, as well as coming out in any theatres that are able to be open amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

...While Warner Bros has insisted this new model of simultaneous streaming and cinematic releases is a "unique one-year plan", many film fans are taking the announcement as a sign of the impending death of cinema.

Despite Warner Bros claims the initiative is not expected to continue into 2022 or beyond, social media users feared the move would be the final nail in the coffin for movie theatres already teetering on the brink of extension due to coronavirus.

...In New Zealand, where HBO Max is not available, movies are expected to continue to cinematic releases as normal - providing theatres are not impacted by any COVID-19 alert level restrictions.

Christmas Chronicles 9/10

What a fantastic Christmas movie. Kurt Russell may well be one of my fav Santas ever now. Wholesome and heart warming and suitable for my kids who are scared of pretty much everything :)

We had some great LOL moments and hearing my kids laugh was fantastic.
