Running with the Devil (2019) NEON. 7/10 but it averages 5/10. Nicolas Cage, Laurence Fishburne.

The CEO of an international conglomerate sends two of his most regarded executives to investigate why shipments of cocaine are being hijacked and over cut somewhere on the supply chain.   Not to bad. Interesting concept of following cocaine from plant to street. Starts of at $1760 per kg for the grower in Columbia to $40,000 per kg on the street in Vancouver after lots of intermediaries pay offs. Has its humorous moments. Lots of violence and occasional very suggestive sex scenes.

@Paul1977 EDIT: phraseology

Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.

Britanny runs a Marathon.   6.5/10

Quite an unlikeable protaganist, and a bit of a weird plot, but ultimately fairly predictable. Sort of enjoyed it, but ruined date night somewhat :)

Sputnik (2020) , English overdubbed

Much better than the IMDB rating. I'd give it a 8/10 .
A good film, you really dont know whats going to happen next, spoilt only by a hollywood type ending

A cosmonaut returns with a parasite in him and is put into an isolation facility . Its set in the Cold War era .

Now that the phrasing has been corrected my comment isn't clever any more.

Outside the Wire.

Had the bird guy from the Marvel films - Eagle, Hawk, Falcon ?

He plays a cyborg/robot in the future who plans to fire an old Russian missile at the good ol' USA

That's about as far as I got as it was an absolute snooze fest.

I do remember a few good instances of surround sound activity but the rest was zzzzzzzzzzzz

1/10

I didn't enjoy it much either, probably a 3/10 from me.

Yep Im in agreeance with you both. I was expecting more from it. He was a good actor 20 years back but his acting was not the issue in this one, the story and the writing lacked substance. Id say on a generous note 5/10 from me.

News of the World 7.5/10

I really want to hate Tom Hanks, for the very reasons I like him. He reminds me of Jacinda Ardern, never doing what is right, only what is popular. Over the years this "agreeable" style of acting has grown on me and he is a pretty good bloke in real life it turns out as well. He does show some of the "acting" skills he has aquired of the years in the movie and the Germanic young lady in the story was really good imo too. Beyond their acting I think the story was a fresh one combing both how news was told in the day and what happened to stolen children who often from my readings could not go back to western life with utter dismmay, showing how culturally advance native american Indian culture was. A lot of mini plots but overall it is what is on the label. Good story, good writing, good directing and good acting.

The Day The Earth Stood Still. The proper one from 1951.

For those who remember it, its interesting to see that the kid in the film is still going strong (yay) and (eek!) he's now 83.

With such a long career it's easy to forget some of the excellent movies he has been in.

Philadelphia, Forest Gump, Apollo 13, Saving Private Ryan (possibly the best first 20 minutes of any film ever), The Green Mile, Road To Perdition, Charlie Wilson's War, Bridge Of Spies.

Once Upon A Time In Hollywood 9/10

Well on second viewing this has really grown on me. The first time it seemed like a movie in two halves with different story lines but second time around I appreciated how the different strands are interwoven from nearly the beginning. I think I also expected it to be in the style of say Pulp Fiction or The Hateful Eight and it's not.

Di Caprio and Brad Pitt (especially) put in tremendous performances. They look like they enjoy working together as well. Some of the supporting roles are really good too with Al Pacino putting a great effort.

And to top it all off there is still some trademark Tarrantino violence and humour. What more could you want?

I agree with most of your list but it maybe just me but I find Forest Gump to be a tiresome load of rubbish
