After rewatching the Alien movies, now available on Disney+ I can say "After three movies, why dafuq don't people raise questions when there's an android riding with them?"

Also, any movie in the series "Lost spaceship, android, hard landing, xenomorph, lots of dead, the end"

The crews in the latest movies all share the same attribute as well - completely incompetent.

As an example (small spoiler alert here)  in the latest movie the pilot starts blasting off at an alien while inside the landing craft with predictable results - landing craft explodes, pilot killed and the remainder of the crew are shipwrecked.

The ISS would have lasted about a week with any of these guys on board.

Outside the Wire.

Had the bird guy from the Marvel films - Eagle, Hawk, Falcon ?

He plays a cyborg/robot in the future who plans to fire an old Russian missile at the good ol' USA

That's about as far as I got as it was an absolute snooze fest.

I do remember a few good instances of surround sound activity but the rest was zzzzzzzzzzzz

1/10

I didn't enjoy it much either, probably a 3/10 from me.

Outside the Wire. 6/10. I really enjoyed most of it. AI, robots, hints at Asimov's laws and workarounds.

The initial opening scenes look like cheap movie cheap direction and I almost turned it off. The younger less experienced lead has a tough job at this point. It really starts when the two lead characters meet and gets better quickly after that. No longer cheap. CGI and action sequences are excellent.

Morals of the story - Don't trust Russians, hippies, Murica - gotta keep up the bombing!.

Just watched DC's Wonder Woman 1984.

Obviously this is just my personal opinion. Everyone has very individual tastes......movies/music/books that people have raved about I have not enjoyed and vice versa for me and what I love and recommend.

Gotta say I was very disappointed which for a lover of superhero movies is a big call.

The initial Wonder Woman movie in 2017 had it all - great action, good story, characters that you loved and rooted for AND villains you rooted against.

All this was lacking in Wonder Woman 1984. Bland and bland are 2 words that come to mind to describe it. What was with the winking and the finger on the lips shushing whenever WW was around children????

Anyways again this is my point of view on it......will leave it up to you to decide for yourself.

May your viewings be in High Def and your enjoyment 4k+     :-)

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies (2016) - Netflix - 7/10. Ignore IMDb rating 5/10

Five sisters in 19th century England must cope with the pressures to marry while protecting themselves from a growing population of zombies.

This is a surprising entertaining spoof on Jane Austin's novel and I thought; "here we go, I'll only watch 10 minutes" but no. Good script, if just a tiny bit predictable, well acted, great period costumes and settings with good cgi. It is; drama, romance, high camp, comedy & lots of fun without being silly.

PS: there is violence and gore - it is a zombie movie after all 😀

Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.

Highlight for me in that film was the end credit scene where Lynda Carter turns up...

Interesting ! My wife likes period films, I like zombies - this could be the unifying film to entertain us this weekend.

I'll put it to her.

The Dig - Netflix

Set just before WWII and it is about an archaeology dig ( nothing like Indiana Jones )

Staring Carey Mulligan ( see was excellent in An Education )

Well worth the watch IMHO

Shoplifters (2018)
https://www.justwatch.com/nz/movie/shoplifters

Japanese language with Subtitles.
It was $5.99 on Google Play testing Android TV on my RPI4 2G Christmas gift.
https://konstakang.com/devices/rpi4/LineageOS17.1-ATV/

One to compare with later Korean movie Parasite ( Parasite being a darker tale ).
The people in this Japanese movie have a much more solid roof over their heads, and space, giving them an easier time.

An abused girl taken in by an extended family where everyone is on the make, and some may not be who they seem.
The little girl gets more love and attention from these people living on the margins until it all falls apart.

Missing girl becomes kidnapping when police get involved.
There are touching scenes, but also twists as peoples actions are not as bad or as good as they may seem.
So its fun to spot when you start to see what is really going on with each character.
Not what you might expect from Japan. ?

There is a tasteful nude scene, so M rating, but no violence of any magnitude.

I liked it and 8/10 on thought provoking scale.

Coming to America - Prime Video - UHD

Pretty amazing looking for a movie of it's age. Held up reasonably well as well. My wife hadn't seen it. 7/10.

Will watch the sequel tonight, expecting far less :)

Raya and the Last Dragon.  9/10

Family all absolutely loved this movie.  Sort of a mix between Mulan and Moana.

Lazy is such an ugly word, I prefer to call it selective participation
