SHIFT-CTRL-V used to be paste without format. They removed it years ago from Office apps. Now they brought this crap.
Never making it easier.

What makes it even more annoying is different applications has different shortcuts for paste without format. Some its CTRL-SHIFT-ALT-V others its CTRL-SHIFT-V.
Kookoo:
Yay! More Microsoft Word stupidity. "Congratulations, Copy-Paste just got better! We've updated your default Paste options - the default option is now "merge formatting!"
Err... has anyone at Microsoft considered asking customers if they wanted this change? At least as joke, you know - "Hey bro, I've had this crazy dream where we had to ask our customers if they wanted to change how copy-paste worked. Too funny, right? I better stay off the pills for a while, they seem to be messing up my brain."
There is an extremely high likelihood that in-app metrics were used to inform this decision; i.e. amongst the multitude of user interface usage metrics the app collects [from the CEIP opt-in], there is quite likely a high ratio of paste followed by the 'merge format' button on the pop-up.
Behaviour-driven UI change is quite normal.

I have no argument there except that this isn't a UI change. It's a blanket config change. Imagine they took the same approach to logins. "login just got better! We've noticed that most of our users have webcams, so the default login option for everyone is now facial recognition! To disable it you'll need to login first. Smile for the birdie!"
Just saw this on another site (slightly paraphrased for readability out of context):
In case nobody noticed, Microsoft 365 is octal for Microsoft 245, which seems far more accurate in terms of uptime.
Apple have just re-jigged iOS. For the most part it seems fine.
There’s one change that is driving me crazy.

See the two X buttons right next to each other? The small one clears the address field and the very slightly bigger one simply returns you to the current page.
They’re far too close together for more or less identical buttons. I keep hitting the wrong one! 😡

Metlink's android app has long been sh*t. I need to tap three different buttons to view any alerts for my preferred service, even if triggering it from a notification.
Now it's even sh*tter. It's started serving full-screen ads with a forced 3 second wait before I can close it (the ad).
Sometimes I use big words I don't always fully understand in an effort to make myself sound more photosynthesis.

A council provided service you pay for in rates and in fares now pushing ads on their app?! Ads on free games I can see a glimmer of logic, but not the likes of public transport apps. Fingers crossed AT doesn't go down that path...

The enshitification is accelerating.

<Ctrl>-<Shift>-V still works for me. Also, I get a little pop-up dialog that asks me if I want to set the default paste. At least, that is the case in Word.

Put in some feedback to Apple. I assume one is using Safari. You may need to say what plugin one is using. At the very least, they may ask for a slightly smaller image :)
I think I should resist the temptation to click the blue button to post this reply :)

I bought something from a vendor today, and my criticism is with their sales/invoicing platform.
The item was listed at $55, "duties and taxes included", and the checkout listed that as the total. So when I got an invoice a few minutes later with a line item of $55 for the product and another at $7.17 for "duties and taxes", with a listed total of $62.17, I did a double-take.
My bank statement shows that they only took $55, so I was charged the right amount, but the invoice shows that I've paid more than I actually have.
For bonus points, 55 * 1.15 ≠ 62.17!

The ads are central government policy: 'Last November, RNZ reported Waka Kotahi had sent letters to all public transport authorities, laying out new expectations for how much revenue they brought in via advertising and fares - known as "private share".'

AT already has ads on buses...

...and so does Metlink of course, and I'm OK with that because it's 'passive'.
Imagine though if they made you leaf through a flyer from Harvey Norman or Mitre10 before you were allowed to step on the bus.
It's a bit of an exaggeration of course but that's what this feels like. It's not the sort of app that you interact with for minutes, or longer, at a time, like a media publication, where ads potentially have a place.
It needs to be snappy, I want to be able to see almost instantly when my bus will be arriving or what platform my train will be leaving from. The Metlink app is far from that, and now they've made it worse.
