I just ordered some PC parts for an upgrade, you know, MB, RAM, SSD etc. I ordered from PBT and it's all turned up today after ordering a day or two earlier, so a smile is warranted there.

Then today. they send me an email , subject is 'hey looking for some PC parts?". And what do they have on the recommended list for me? The exact MB, RAM etc. that I already purchased !

But are they discounted now? Could you get a better price?

The email had no prices on it, just invitations to click.

Since that email, they've sent ANOTHER, inviting me to a VIP shopping sesh. When I check the items, I see YES, 3 of the items are cheaper to a VIP ! I was obviously just a pleb before.

But in typical PBT fashion the VIP 'discount' amounts to a whopping $10 off to buy $800 of stuff. I make that an average of 1.25%.

Not sure I can be bother challenging them for this amount, but the treatment grates ...... ooops wrong thread !

I remember going to a PBT in store 'sale' and lifting up the promo price tag of a laptop to find the normal price was less than the sale price!

https://www.independent.co.uk/tech/ebay-rolling-coal-fine-environment-b2427796.html

Ebay is facing a fine of nearly $2 billion for allegedly enabling the sale of ‘rolling coal’ devices and other deliberately polluting equipment that violates environmental laws.

The US Department of Justice alleges that the online retailer sold more than 343,000 so-called defeat devices in violation of the Clean Air Act, with each sale the subject of a $5,580 fine.

Rolling coal has become a form of [redneck]anti-environmentalism protest in the United States, involving the modification of a diesel engine in order to emit black clouds of sooty exhaust fumes.

I've seen videos online of the redneck coal-rollers making sure to target other drivers, too - ensuring as much of the thick black sooty smoke makes it into other drivers' lungs and all over thier passengers. It's abhorrent behaviour, but they think it's hilarious. As I guess you'd expect.

youtube has recently started blocking content posted by advertising youtubers for users of adblocker. The content of public service contributions remains unaffected. Let's see what the advertising youtubers say when their numbers and subscribers plummet. This whole system is sick in itself.

And they already have to unblock public television content for adblocker users, because the content is already paid for by the compulsory broadcasting fees charged here. ๐Ÿ™‚

One can well do without the dubious influencer (and cat) videos.

That you can screw a modern VoIP DECT base to a Fritzbox Fon 7170 v2 from 2009 as the internal SIP interface (server) and it registers all MSNs with an unlisted SIP provider without complaints (in client mode), even with an IPv6 SIP proxy server. I would not have expected that after 14 years now. And the 1948 Siemens pulse dial phone is still in business as well via this ole, golden Fritzbox! Somewhere there is also a KW-7 for encryption. Seeing how the marketing guys are looking after "your well-being" in emails and at the same time getting the number of blocked trackers sent along displayed.

Standing in line at the pet shop, when I get an almighty nudge on the hand. I look down to where the hand is and there's an giant Alsatian's head grinning at me, awaiting good boi pats. I duly oblige, which is met with a thumping tail on the floor and a slightly embarrassed owner, who apologises for her dog's rather over-exuberant friendliness.

I thoroughly enjoyed it and so did the dog.
