Cruella - really enjoyable as a family movie, if a little dark in areas :)  8/10

gehenna:

I've seen this kind of thread on other forums I use, but they're now getting unmanageable with over 1000 replies, so I figured why not start it fresh on Geekzone??  Hopefully it takes off :)

This thread is currently about 5x bigger than the one I referenced in my first post 🤣

A few oldies.

Scarface 8.5/10 DVD Al Pacino at his early best documenting the rise and fall of drug lord Tony Montana in Miami. Some unforgettable scenes and one unforgettable line.

Dirty Harry 7/10 DVD Clint Eastwood in a role that was made for him. Again one unforgettable line.

Bullitt 8/10 DVD Steve McQueen in his prime and that car chase which, by today's standards, is pretty tame. Still an excellent watch.

Third best car chase in movie history! (just don't count the displaced hubcaps or number of times they pass the same VW).

French connection is best, followed by Ronin.

(IMHO).

The New Mutants. Awful, just absolutely awful. Terrible acting, uninteresting characters, incredibly predictable "twist". 2/10

P.s. Did I mention it was awful?

The Unholly. Lots of good actors in there. The story is not that bad but there's a long way from The Exorcist to today's "evil incarnate" movies.

Give it a 5/10.

The Hitmans wife 9/10

This is an absolute banger of a movie. I can't recall the last time I enjoyed a movie of it's type more. If you like Deadpool, this will be up your alley.  I laughed out loud so many times as did many others. The couple behind me had a ball, I was somewhat surprised to find them to be 80+ year old Indian couple on date night. Selma Hayek and Samuel L Jackson are fantastic, as is of course, Ryan Reynolds.

I think you mean "Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard".

Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.

Which apparently releases "in cinema's" on June 24th; so why is it in some cinemas now?  Confused.  Pretty sure one of the more recent films I saw was also in a cinema a week or more before the "release date".  What even is the point?

The release date maybe in some other region. Sometimes IMDB makes it clear "NZ Release Date" sometimes just the US release date.

I've noticed in recent years movies being released in New Zealand earlier than the USA.

Decided to go back and watch The Exorcist. Easy to see how it would shock audiences in 1973. Not so much these days. Still a 8/10.

As a good little Catholic boy in the 70's I wished for a good many years that I had never seen that movie.

Frightened the absolute %$#& out of me.

I still can't bring myself to rewatch it.
