The release date maybe in some other region. Sometimes IMDB makes it clear "NZ Release Date" sometimes just the US release date.
I've noticed in recent years movies being released in New Zealand earlier than the USA.

COMING SOON TO CINEMAS: 24 JUNE 2021
Yet right underneath is the table of 7 or so cinemas with today's screening....
I know, first-world problems, right?
Fast and Furious 9 - 4/10
While many people have tired of the Fast and Furious franchise (and plenty didn't even stick around for the sequel), I have enjoyed most of the preceding 8 films. Even among what I consider the worst films, there is something to enjoy - be it the outlandish stunts, the fast cars, or the dumb humour. I sat through the cheesy "family" tropes that got stronger with each successive film, and suspended my ever-increasing disbelief as the chases evolved from sliding cars under trucks to parachuting cars, to tanks and submarines. But I think with the latest film they have finally pushed this committed viewer (and professed watcher of near-universally bad films) to the limit.
There isn't anything necessarily "bad" with this film - not more so than any of their previous films - but rather there is a lack of anything to really make you want to stick around. The characters, which have always been carved out of cheese, seem really bored and uninterested in this film (and that's saying something, given their past attempts). Even Vin Diesel looks like he can hardly be bothered. The attempts to inject some energy by introducing John Cena as Toretto's brother (no spoiler - it was already spoiled in the trailers) fall flat and he's incredibly dull as "villain." The cars are virtually anonymous here, which is bizarre for a franchise that built itself around the personalities of the cars (think of the original film's Charger and Supra, the Ford Escort from Fast Six, or the Lykan Hypersport in Fast 7). I struggle to recall any of the cars here, apart from the Pontiac Fiero which is the subject of a dumb gag involving a rocket engine.
For a franchise that has stretched to 10 films (including Hobbs and Shaw) over 21 years, the cast has inevitably grown. In a similar way to the Marvel franchise with Avengers Endgame, the film strains under the weight of the many actors it tries to accomodate. But where Endgame somehow managed to avoid making it feel like a complete mess, FF9 just misses entirely. None of the characters - bar Toretto and his brother - get more than a few minutes on screen, which just exacerbates the problem of the dull characters. There are cameos by Charlize Theron, Helen Mirren and Kurt Russell, but where those actors brought something exciting when they debuted, here it feels like badly-done fan service. Almost like the film was trying to boast it's reach, but it ends up feeling like pointless namedropping.
Normally, in any FF film, there is something you walk away from grinning about - however dumb or unbelievable. But not this time. For me, it's one big meh.
The Right Stuff (1983) - 7/10
After watching the new series adaptation of Tom Wolfe's book on Disney+, I decided to finally track down the film from 1983. I ended up watching it over several nights as it was over three hours long! But it was interesting to compare the treatment with the TV series, especially as they were both adapted from the same source material. For those that don't know, it's an account of the Mercury space programme, focussing on the astronauts and fighter pilots that contributed to the earliest days of American crewed spaceflight.
There's quite a few differences, from the way the rivalries between the astronauts are portrayed, to the inclusion of Chuck Yeager's story (in the film, not in the TV series). I thought the TV series did a better job of showing the nuances of the different astronauts, though it spent a lot of time on John Glenn and Alan Sheppard, whereas the movie doesn't focus quite so much in that area. The movie also felt a bit more scattergun (though that can possibly be attributed to the era in which it was made - in my opinion, the approach to storytelling in modern film and TV shows tends to be a bit more concerned with having an overall arc that resolves neatly, whereas some older films can appear to be a bit more random), and kind of just ends without really coming to any kind of resolution.
Overall, though, I did enjoy it. I enjoy pretty much anything that tells the story of the space race, and it was interesting to see another take on the Mercurcy program. I've been wondering if there is any kind of program that tells the story of Gemini - the missions that led into Apollo and the moon missions. Other than "From the Eath to the Moon", I've seen almost nothing that recounts the Gemini program and the impact that had on crewed spaceflight.
Fast and Furious 9 - 5/10
Agree with all of Lizard1977's points. Nothing great, you get what you'd expect from a Fast and Furious movie at this point. I was entertained enough by the anti-physics OTT action. Have to say, they only had one idea for this movie... magnets.
Fast and Furious 9.
Possibly the worst movie I have seen in 5 years or more. Even understanding the full intention of these movies is to turn your brain off, the *awful* dialogue between actors, especially when it comes time to be 'sincere and heartfelt' made me want to rip my ears off, the action scenes defied even the most scant belief in physics or common sense and the plot was so laughably put together, the writers should face criminal charges.
Yes, in some ways the action is fantastical, but there were moments where a number of us in the cinema laughed out loud at the absurdity of it. At times it was hard to believe I wasn't watching a parody of what the movie was supposed to be.
I was actually a pretty big fan of FF8, I quite like movies where you watch for the fun and absurd action scenes but this is an abomination.
Everyone involved in the making of this movie should be punished, probably by being forced to watch the actual movie, except it's so bad it would be cruel and unusual punishment.
Agreed that the magnets was an interesting idea.
but you'll still go see the next one right? 😀

Probably, mostly because they are pretty inconsistent, 8 was excellent :)
The Tomorrow War with Chris Pratt - Amazon Prime Originals
What a great movie. It's hard for me to reconcile Chris Pratt as a genuine action drama actor, but he does a good job with this.
It has some not too overly done action, a reasonably interesting plot, and some interesting smaller twists. 8/10 for me.
Not going to win any acting awards but I still recommend it.
Distorter: A Quiet Place 2
I'd give it an 8/10. Really enjoyed it, the whole atmosphere of the movie was great and I found it had a similar feel to Alien/Aliens.
Definitely try and catch it at the cinema while you can. The silent scenes are really unnerving!
A lot more action in this one and I guess the ending means there could be a 3.
Better than the first and you could watch this one without having to have seen the first one really.
7/10
I do like Emily Blunt as an actresses

We caught this on Friday night. Great escapist fun along with some fun twists, and I agree a solid 8/10

Watched it last night. Was ok. Had a big budget end of the world type feel to it but didn't quiet deliver IMO.
A lot of well used tropes, reasonably good action scenes, but some massive (and I mean massive) plot holes. Usually I can put my brain on park for a couple of hours but not this time.
The sound was really inconsistent though - had to turn up for the dialogue and down again for the action. Is this a trend? Had trouble with the voices in Tenet (but that wasn't a volume issue). Maybe my ears aren't what they use to be.
Still - there are worse ways to spend a couple of hours so if you're into these movies I'd say go for it.
Interesting, I didn't have any issues with the plot like say, FF9 or whatever, but it's not designed for an Academy Award :)
Yeah I had some issues with sound, had to adjust a few times.
