Yeah, I saw I had an answerphone message that I couldn't check. Turns out it wasn't from Harvey Norman, but they did have them. Hopefully ya'll be sorted tomorrow :)

jayaldous: Turns out HN Wellington do have them in stock. Maybe I missed out on a phone call because of the Telecom XT outage.

Not according to the salesperson I spoke to. I was told it would be tomorrow before they get them. As usual, no consistent answers.

They have a couple of specials on offer, neoprene (i think) covers and Norton AV for 1/2 price.

They should be throwing the cover in for nowt for the wait!  Laughing

anyone know if the original receipt is required for pickup, or would a photo ID be sufficient?

I'd imagine you could get away with Photo ID. I brought the receipt with me to speed things up. Better drop them a line if it's a hassle for you.

Just had the call from Whangarei HN :)
Will go down there and ask for my HP netbook and then see what they say when they have to give me an Asus.
Will be interesting to see if they try and upsell on accessories.

Opinions are my own and not the views of my employer.

My experience was friendly and gracious. They are offereing discounted accessories, but I don't think you need to worry about the hard sell or any bitterness over the netbook :)

Congrats guys, still waiting here. Looks to be a new model added to the ASUS range in Nov '09, based on the 1005 chassis. Not quite sure why ASUS would go back to the 270 chip when they had been using the 280 more recently. I guess it's a price-point thing but there's so little difference in performance aside from power consumption. I suppose they can charge a premium for that reason alone.

Just picked up my HP mini at Lower Hutt. Was told the Asus ones are there, but they haven't been processed yet. So, I suppose anyone waiting should be getting notified shortly.

andyj14:

Thanks Psilan.  I think I'm right in saying this model does have the "seashell" case design?  If yes, it will match the HP in terms of dimensions very closely.

Also, can anyone comment on whether it will run off the mains without the battery installed?

Smile

Yep, runs with no battery installed, Battery life seems quite good from my use last night/this morning, only the first cycle so might get better yet.
