What's something small that really annoys me? People.

Posted this on my Twitter today: "Kid throwing bouncing ball at mall, to see it hit the ceiling, which just happen to be translucent plastic for lighting. Mother thinking it's funny. Now the farking ball hit me. The problem is the mother. He came to say sorry because grandma told him so. Mother is the enabler."

People who fart at their work desks.

Someone near me (pretty sure I've narrowed it down) has been doing some pretty bad ones go for the last couple of weeks. Passing gas is a natural thing and I get that it happens (although I fear this person is suffering from a serious condition and needs medical attention), but when your farts smell like something that would be banned under the Geneva Protocol, please get up from your desk and take a short walk to the restroom and let it go in there.

They are probably just eating too much fibre. Certain types of fibre just get consumed by gut bacteria, and they produce lots of gas.

I also found out (for me at least) That if I drink Lion Red beer. That stuff makes me fart lots. Have never had that happen with any other beer.

Self inflicted face palms.

The app I use to pay for parking wouldn't work this morning. It's not great at the best of times, so I was effing and jeffing at it and the well-known parking provider for about ten minutes. At which point I realised that mobile data was still switched off from the previous day's technomalogical activities. Whoops.

I last drank Lion Red beer in about 1978, give or take a year or so.  Haven't farted since.

When software that's supposed to auto-start at logon, doesn't.

Especially when it's Google backup and sync and I'm 10 minutes into editing a supposedly synced document.

When video referees see something apparently completely different from everyone else who is watching.

Sometimes I use big words I don't always fully understand in an effort to make myself sound more photosynthesis.

eracode: It’s interesting that unlike other external senses, the human sense of smell is totally non-directional. There’s no such thing as stereodour.

True, but looking around when you smell something can reveal who's currently at their desk, and after a few days you can narrow it down to certain people who are always present when it happens.

In the 1970’s Peter Cooke and Dudley Moore did a brilliant coarse album called Derek & Clive Live. In much of the dialogue they are pissed or stoned and trying to out-gross each other. Pete reported that he had once created a dump so large that it was smelt all over London and .. “It was so bad that even the Queen Mum caught a whiff o’ it”.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

The old clam shell phone I use as an alarm clock. The stupid thing keeps defaulting back to 8:00 am if you select the alarm to only go off for that day. Very annoying!

Having to adjust that aforementioned clam shell phone for the end of daylight savings tomorrow, my digital watch, the cordless phone and also trying to remember what else will need its time adjusted. Bloody things.

And another rant:

People asking what my cellphone number is. It's bloody 025 000 0000 actually.

This morning I realised that there's a DST bug in an app I wrote (it uses timers to turn lights on and off). I need to see whether there's some sort of "time changed" event that I can hook into, as it'll also break if the time is manually adjusted while the app is running. Joy...
