I'm not sure what industry you work in, but in development I found 'agile' meant spending inordinate amounts of time talking about doing things and very little time actually doing them. I got most of my work done before my 9am stand up meeting, even after spending 15-30 minutes talking to the director of development (another early starter) about the latest episode of Big Bang Theory or Top Gear.

I'm pleased to be out of that sort of environment and being able to code what I want, when I want.

I am at home.

I have put a load through the dishwasher

I have cleaned the kitchen....fully...window sills, appliances, stove, tiles, etc etc etc

After lunch it will be vacuuming the house and other weee jobs that will make the WIFE SMILE 😊 πŸ˜ƒ πŸ˜€

.... and then there will be plenty of time for 'other things'. πŸ˜€

Supply Chain Management. Decent sized team including 8 direct reports. I spend 90% of my 9-5 in meetings. My work is normally done outside of business hours.

But not today!

Add in working in a global team. When I get up, North America have been online sine 3am so the inbox is full before the day even starts. New Zealand and Australia keep us busy through the mid morning. Thailand and China come on line about 1 and 2pm our time so that keeps us busy until we sign off. And just before bed Europe and the UK start to wake up!

Not for much longer I hope.

This all sounds familiar. My job is global and 90% meetings.

It’s interesting but the Timezone thing gets old pretty quick. It was even worse when my work week was Sunday-Thursday. Inevitably I’d end up working Fridays….

Something that made me smile is a follow-on from something that didn't make me smile.

I mentioned on the grumpy thread that I'd ordered some photochromic bike glasses with Rx inserts for mountain biking and received Ali-Express brand ones, which is not what I thought I was getting.

I went mountain biking in the weekend and wore the new goggles. They were AWESOME.

The response times for the photochromic coating was excellent (much better than my $2k glasses) and they were light, comfortable and didn't fog up. The prescription was spot-on and the position of the inserts was perfect for my face/eye position.

So I take it all back - very happy with the purchase, despite my initial misgivings.

Haggling with a local to buy a old rusty pretty nakkard KMS hard tail mountain bike. Which was perfect for me as I wanted something to ride on the beach.

The front derailleur wasn't working, which I made worse by tightening and causing the cable to frey. So I had to settle for middle cog which means I have to work harder.

So it is a good project to fix up an old bike and bonus it gets me back into riding again. Time to take the much better giant full suspension for a spin!

Amazed at the e-bikers that ride their bikes on the beach.

My switchover to Quic going so smoothly that I didn't notice it at all (until I tried to connect back to home, which of course failed because my IP address has changed).

I'll just have to smile and nod, because that site doesn't want to load.

Edit: It's working from home (i.e. Quic). That looks like a lot of effort to avoid spending ~3 minutes updating an IP address maybe twice a decade (when I change ISP).
