sad day as we had to put Moxie down today, 16 years old and he broke his back leg . he would of needed major surgery and at his age it wasn't fair to do it. so not a great day.

Update on Cody, our rescue golden lab.
We suspect he was unwanted/runt of a litter, as first few days we had him, he would bolt soon as we picked up a food bowl, didn't like the dark, skinny, nervous as heck and we thought he was mute.
After a month he went for his first visit to the vets with us, they said all good, and noticed that he had chips on his canines - usually a sign of a dog chewing at fencing.
So we think he was left in a dark cage, and if made a sound got bashed with a bowl.
But now, he is so happy, the tail never stops, loves giving kisses, and is an all round goof ball. He has found his voice but uses it rarely, and can be a little odd around new people - some people he'll just go straight up to them and be happy. Others, he is extremely cautious with but eventually comes round. (Oh crap, I can hear him going zoomies in the lounge as I type this - he is FAST for a lab - glad the carpet is old)
Other dogs hes a bit wary, larger ones he handles ok but small ones, he quite often goes into submissive mode and drops to the ground. We'll get him to some doggie day care to help with that, along with some extra lessons as his recall is pretty poor, but slowly improving.
We wouldn't be without him.
