geoffwnz: Part of the D&D 50th anniversary celebrations, a Lego Ideas submission got put into production.

Resulted in a 3754 piece kit that has a downloadable one shot adventure that goes with it.  There was a live play one shot run when they released the kit.  Should be still available on YouTube.  It's a pretty good watch if you like that sort of thing.  Had Anjali Bhimani as GM with Ginny Di and Luis Carazo as professional players along with the Lego Design Manager and the Lego Ideas creator/submitter as the other two players.

Well, if it was Rolemaster I'd watch it, but D&D?  Sheesh, have you looked at their combat rules?  And spellcasting?

Runequest would work too.

Looked at the D&D rules once or twice.  I'm 5 years into a campaign as a DM.

Nothing stopping you using the Lego set as a base for any system you want though.  It's flexible like that.  :-)

I assume the video is this one?  So far the GM is being very annoying.

Correct video.  Liking the GM's style is personal preference.

Being able to arrange for my Son, a one in a lifetime experience for his 15th birthday.

It will be a memory he will keep with him his whole life, and was above and beyond what I had ever hoped it would be. The people involved were very generous with their toys.

He's an awesome kid, we are very fortunate to have him be the person he is, and this was a great reward.

I can't stop smiling, for the look on his face.

Young teen going to a first dance fussing over how to do her hair, which nail polish to wear and asking a myriad of questions as to what to expect and worried that she might get stared at if she dances wrong. Rather sweet. I said don’t worry about your feet, no one will be watching them, they will only be looking at your face. Puzzled look.

Forgot how hard growing up was and the confidence required.

1000%. It's easy to forget just how challenging every day things adults take for granted are to come by.

When my kids worry about how they look, the response I give them is, do you recall a single thing about the appearance of any of the kids at your school 3 days ago was? They won't either :)

Today is the disaster day of the holiday. Mrs handle has a very rough tummy and hasn’t gotten out of bed, Miss 10 has a sore tummy as well and is grumpy and I managed to cut my head on a low flying roofline that jumped out at me (it didn’t, I’m just a klutz.)

Hopefully that’s it for the holiday, and at least it’s all in one day. We’re still on holiday so still smiling.

Hopefully, it's all over and done in 24 hours and you can have fun the rest of the trip.

It should be. To be honest if that’s out of the way and the family has a good time when I go back to work it’s a win. They have two more weeks after I go back.

BTW if anyone is considering Sri Lanka for a holiday just do it. It’s great, much like an undeveloped Bali. The people are just wonderful.

Our 13-month-old only-grandchild has stayed with us overnight because both her parents are quite ill. We have just done her first rugby training. She was crawling, holding her floppy stuffed rabbit, so I crawled up behind her, grabbed the rabbit and crawled ahead. She was supposed to crawl after me and take it back. She sped up to follow me, giggling, but then got penalised for an illegal tackle.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

That made me smile remembering how cute they are when they chuckle and laugh. Wait till she talks and make sure you video some conversations for posterity. I have some hilarious ones saving for the 21st party.

I had bought a stack of genuine intel NUC barebones with i5 Gen12 for around €300 each brand new, because they are always good to have (e.g. as powerful, distributed 16-core VM servers). The week before last, I received a call for help from a 74-year-old service customer of mine whose club HP midi desktop with Windows had failed.

I will probably never see my tiny temporarely loaned NUC with Linux Mint, Office derivative and migrated cloud data again after she simply transferred a generous, lump sum to me, although I only wanted the pure cost price for the hardware (I don't deal in hardware) and two hourly rates. Just 10 minutes ago, a friend of hers called who also wants “one of those little devils without Windows bloatware.“

I fear for my server supply. 😁

Elephants. Specifically getting a “kiss” from wild elephants in a national park. They are quite magical.

Handsomedan:

Imagine if we all drove those!
The room it wouold save in parking lots and at the sides of roads.

We could stack them like lego blocks!

I had three of them when they came onto the market. Unbeatable in the big city. But if a honk parks too close to the left and and right, you only have the tailgate to get in.
