We were recently on holiday in Sri Lanka while they were in season. Just delicious.
Yeah, down this end of the world they are pretty rare, but up near there, even in some parts of Australia they are relatively common.
I recall when I was in Spain walking down a street and seeing a bag of fist sized figs for $2 euro. Here they were $5 each. Figs, Parma Ham, some Spanish cheese and fresh bread, sitting in a park in the sunshine. One of my most memorable lunches ever.
