Model M? Is that one of those 'cool' keyboards I can hear from the other end of the office?

It's the IBM grand-daddy to those ones, with some of the worst switches I have used in it short of a dell/hp freebie with a system chicklet type thing. Hipsters love them despite the 40 years of progress in switches since it was made.

There's a reason why the BOFH's keyboard goes clickety-clickety and not psh, psh, psh or whatever semi-sound most keyboards make.

I took an eBike (MTB) out for a test ride the other day.

I've never ridden an eBike before. My brother owns one and said I'd love it if I tried it - I decided not to try his as I haven't been in a position to buy one if the urge took me, so I have persisted with my man-powered MTB so far.

Fast forward to now and there's a very real chance that I could get a very good performance bonus this year. I have already said to my wife that if it's (at a minimum) twice the projected cost of a new eBike, I'm seriously thinking of getting one, as it'll leave enough for other things we want/need. She's reluctantly onboard.

So...I took a new well-specced eBike for a test ride - in Eco mode, I was a little underwhelmed. I didn't feel much (if anything) in the way of assistance. I clicked the button on the handlebars to increase the assistance to Trail mode and wow! It was like someone was running next to me with their hand on the seatpost pushing me as I pedalled. Then I went to Turbo. It was like someone had attached a car to the seatpost (yes, that's where it felt like the power was coming from).
As I pedalled, I got progressively more assistance from the electric motor and this thing flew along - and more importantly for my old and tired legs, hips and knees - up the hills.

I am sold. I will struggle to get back on my acoustic bike this weekend - I'll miss that feeling of assisted climbing, for sure!

It made me smile. A lot!

I just hope the bonus comes through after all this...

What is it?

This is a replacement controller for the famous IBM Model M keyboard based on the STM32F072 micro-controller.

IBM Model M Sound Test - 20th Birthday Edition (youtube.com)

It's hard to describe how perfect these keyboards are.  It's not just the clicky key-press sound, it's the whole sensation of the click as you press a key down - if it clicked, your keypress was registered.

They're also almost indestructible, I mean the newest original Model M has to be, what, 35 years old by now?  I've got three Model something-or-others, the first ones to have the extra Windows keys and whatnot and with a PS2 connector, so around 1995 vintage, one in use and two as spares still in their original boxes because the first one hasn't failed yet.

Saw this on Reddit (I believe it's in Wellington somewhere).  I'm still not sure if it's an attempt at humour or awkward marketing.

Did Eric Clapton really think she looked wonderful...or was it after the 15th outfit she tried on and he just wanted to get to the party and get a drink?

Fass Mangoes. Really unlike any mango I've ever tried before, both in size and flavour.

Supercybersecurity privacy protection router firewall h/w upgrade. I have to be really careful that I can still get into the thing myself. 😁

Possibly not the best career choice for him though?

What I thought was a failed drive was a faulty hba cable.
