Behodar:

"Your order has shipped via Post Haste."

That sentence gave me chills. I haven't dealt with Post Haste for a number of years, but the service wasn't great at the time. Are things any different now?

Yes. Total end-to-end time was 98 minutes. Google Maps tells me that the sender is 83 minutes away. Can't get much better than that!

I thought the same too, except the delivery was picked up in the afternoon in Auckland and delivered to me in Christchurch the following afternoon. Brilliant!

Being able to jump-start some 9V LiIon batteries to the point where the charger would recognise them again so I could keep using them.  It's a 1.0 design that (a) doesn't recognise cells that have self-discharged below a certain point and (b) doesn't disconnect the charge circuit when power is removed, so if you leave the cell in the charger after you turn it off it'll discharge it over a period of about 24 hours until the protection circuit trips (apparently newer updates fix this, my poor review of it probably helped here).

As a general note, if you're buying 9V rechargeables then EBL ones are surprisingly good, I'd left one in an RF field strength meter for probably several years and it was still at around 80% of capacity when I expected it to be dead, while the ... some other brand I had dropped below the recognised-by-the-charger point just sitting in their container, thus the need to jump-start them.

Let's hear it for the men who are brave enough to not only say they aren't OK, but willing to be vulnerable in public against the projected image, in the belief it may help others.

Yes. Preceded by an almost identical story from John Kirwan from 30 years ago. Hats off to these guys.

Ads on TV and radio where ‘30 Seconds’ moss and mould remover sticks it up Wet & Forget - pointing out that the two products are virtually identical and have the same active ingredient. However totally different prices.

The ads make it very clear - a five-litre bottle of 30s concentrate costs ~$40. WnF ~$100. It’s very unusual to see overt price comparisons like this in ads in NZ.

Last discussed on GZ here.

I relocated my network cabinet to a different wall and a new cabinet this morning.

It was remarkably smooth and straightforward. I’d put a lot of work in to planning it but I was pleasantly surprised how well it went. I think the network was down for a couple of hours.

Stopped in Taupo, trying to work out how to use a public charging station for the EV for the first time.
Nice man in full gang attire comes over with a grin on his face.
"First time, bro?"
Yup.
"Wrong plug mate - you want that one there - take out both of the bungs in your charge port and it'll fit in. Then follow the instructions on the app".

What a nice chap. Well...you know, except for the drug dealing, violence and general thuggery. A very nice chap indeed!

Individually, they are often generally nice human beings.  The pack mentality when they get together on the other hand isn't great.

Yeah, there was a huge gathering of them - first on the road heading to Taupo, then in Taupo itself - as a group, very menacing and threatening. Individually, as we bumped into the odd one while walking around town as the car charged - fairly pleasant.

On their bikes and in their cars/vans, while on the road, they were actual menaces - breaking laws left, right and centre and intimidating drivers as they went.
