ISP's, cloud services and companies who say they will respond within nnn hours and never do.

Doubly so when they add in call centres that have people with incomprehensible accents reading off lists of solutions that dont match your problem.

Triply so when they have the audacity to claim these are HELP Desk Systems or SERVICE Desks (sic)

People who forgo modern heating systems used elsewhere for many many decades in favour of heating their houses the same way Saxons and Vikings did...!

have you seen the modern ULEB burners? They are fantastic, hot, efficient, clean.

I'm in a new house with only a heat pump and am freezing my brass ones off. Screw modern - give me a fire again. It works when the electricity doesn't. Actually rephrase that - it works!!

It might also be someone who keeps their fire running with the damper completely closed. Meaning the wood is mostly smoldering instead of burning.

Supposedly some of the emissions compliant fires are really easy to modify, so they can then be fully damped down. The incentive to do so being able to load up the fire before bedtime, and have it slowly burning all night.

some of the new ULEB burners will run all night - with no smoke emissions like traditional ones. 9 pieces of wood per day (24 hours) on the test fire at a local store - and it is blazingly hot.

Where are you? We've had heat-pumps in Queenstown and Auckland and they've been brilliant. The Auckland one doesn't heat the whole house, but then I don't know if a fire would either.

The fire won't cool you in summer like a heat pump/air conditioning unit will though.

Chch. New heat pump. Had the repairer in once after install It had lost all its gas to bad install. When it is on heat mode it should blow hot / warm air then stop blowing anything when it reaches temperature. Instead it blows cold air regularly.

The problem with heatpumps is they are blown heat, not radiant heat. Radiant heat heats up the environment and it the type of heat the lasts when turned off. Blown heat goes as soon as it turns off. fires = radiant heat.

Some one once said that whole "Oh we must catch up some time" schtick means they never will. A plan without a time frame is a wish. We must catch up some time ... how does June 3rd sound?

One in eight New Zealand children is obese, while a further 20 percent are overweight.
"In October 2015, the Ministry of Health launched the Childhood Obesity Plan, which includes 22 initiatives designed to reduce childhood obesity," said Dr McElnay.
"Eleven of the 22 initiatives have been completed."

Or are you looking at the "in" "percent" and "of the" which makes comparison challenging?

It was the use of a fraction (one in eight) then in the same sentence defining a different subset as "20 percent" of the same group.
Then once slightly annoyed, reading "eleven out of 22" instead of simply "half" was icing on the cake.
