Oh another one was a seller that had the the typical lazy seller thing of no freight, so I asked a question on what it would cost to get to auckland, and they said $9 which seemed reasonable.

Bid, won, paid, sent address.

4 days later got an email saying they took it to the post office and it was going to be $28 or something absurd. Turns out they never bothered to price it up and just guessed because other people have couriered them things the same size for $9.

Didnt go ahead with it and didnt leave any feedback but damn some people are lazy and thick.

WOW! All they had to say was it never arrived and within a 5 minute phone call had established it was at the depot... but she launched into full scale threat. I never did make a formal complaint over it.

Yep, my recent guy wanted to take me down and report me to the tax office because he was angry he received a negative feedback for his 'I don't know how I put down a bid I didn't intend to do".

Where do these people come from? Seriously!

I dunno some of these things don't seem worthy of bad feedback, I think it gets over used, at worst a lot of these cases should be neutral. I reserve bad feedback for situations where I lose money, trader is dishonest or abusive, otherwise neutral or nothing.

Mine also relates to "pickups only". I normally have no problem sending an item at the buyers expense. But when its a glass top coffee table, it boggles the mind why somebody would bid on such an item when they live in Christchurch, and I live in Wellington.

Immediately after the sale closed, the buyer sent me his/her physical address with a note of where I should go and drop off the item (Some cheap courier company all the way in Porirua), and instructions of how I should bubble rap it. And of course the usual, thanks for the great trade blah blah blah..

I replied and told him that its "pickup only" and that I will make an exception and wrap it, but he must arrange for the courier to come and collect. He was not happy with the extra costs and cancelled the trade, I politely received my first and only bad feedback saying that I was not willing to help out with getting it ready for the courier. I returned the favour.

I contacted trademe and they removed my bad feedback, but they also removed the buyers bad feedback from me and the item was just stated as sale not completed.

Cars and houses don't get feedback as they're completed outside of trademe.

You get similar issues when people buy cars they haven't physically seen. It's not like there is much that could go wrong with a car right?....

Hence why ebay has removed the ability of sellers to place feedback, only buyers.

My best one was selling a DSLR camera and lens to a photography newbie. I look after my gear I think, and when they received it they were so thrilled and gave me ott feedback about how nervous they were buying it etc and so happy with the result. *shucks*

I have 2 neutrals and 1 negative. I just got the negative a few weeks ago.

Guy buys a $10 game, I sent payment instructions with shipping cost. He never replied, never made payment. So since one has 28 days (?) to get success fees back, I did refund and relisted just prior to that. Then the guy slams me with a red saying I didn't want to sell the game. Why would I have relisted it then?

I wrote to TM as this guy has 7 pos, 1 neutral, 4 neg, but TM wouldn't remove my feedback nor disable him... so now I just have to occasionally check until day he goes below 0 fb and TM might disable him (and then remove the feedback).

One of my neutrals was ridiculous, I posted GOOD feedback first, then the guy gave me neutral in return as "I didn't give him praising enough feedback, as I got a heck of a good deal". (Which is debatable - I paid ~80% of new price for second-hand phone - plus $10 for shipping which came with $3.50 packet post stamp on it).

nate: Bought a microphone cable off TM and ended up being couriered two by accident. Informed the seller, said I could courier one back, the told me to keep it as a gift from them to me.

Not an amazing value, but still nice to get something for free.

I had a similar thing happen when I purchased a HDMI switch. There was a HDMI cable unexpectedly included in package. Contacted the seller, and he said "keep it".

My most "memorable" TM story highlights how you should never underestimate what people are prepared to buy. We had an old, low quality leather lounge suite that we wanted to get rid of. The leather was still in OK condition, but the material that the leather cushions sat on was ripped. When we purchased a new lounge suite, we investigated how much it would cost to get the old one removed by a rubbish removal firm ($125). We whacked it on TM with a $1 reserve, with a honest description of the condition (including pics of the damage). It sold for $121, and when the buyer came to pick it up she was ecstatic with it. She had purchased it on behalf of her Dad, and was seriously considering keeping it for herself instead. :-)

price to buy them new(at the time) was around $200

mine was second hand (obviously) but in good condition and on the auction I had put a $100 reserve and written something like

"these sell for $200 brand new, so if you get it for the $100 reserve you have a bargain!"

It sold for $300 - $100 more than they could be purchased brand new. I was sure it would turn out to be a scam, but the guy turned up, paid cash, and seemed very happy.

Your story reminded me of the iPod Shuffle I sold on TradeMe once. I won it in a competition, but as I had an iPod Touch, I had no need for it. I ended up selling it for about $10 more than the RRP :-)

I sold an electronic drum kit, specified in large caps "PICKUP ONLY", specified pickup only for the delivery options, made it very clear. It had a lot of metal racking so was a large, heavy, cumbersome item.

So of course, some idiot from Auckland wins the auction and wanted me to post it up there. He got charged significantly more than the actual cost of shipping for the amount of mucking around that was involved with me sending the thing.

I another bloke I bought a new motorbike jacket from rode down from Foxton to Wellington so that he could make sure it fitted me correctly. I suspect he just wanted an excuse to go for a nice ride, but pretty good nonetheless. Brand new $900 jacket for $600. Bargain.

Then there's the usual idiots who offer you $200, and expect you to include shipping for an item that is easily worth around $800 second hand.

It's not as bad as Trade & Exchange which almost ALWAYS resulted in phone calls from people who would then ask you "What is your best price?". Or people who would turn up, try to haggle, and then get angry when you tell them to bugger off because they'd already been told the price. Or expect you to provide tech-support post sale, and again, get angry when you refuse to do so.

Ah yes tech support on computer items sold for $1-3. One guy threatened bad feedback when I sold a PC for $1, complained no cables were included and the OS wasn't installed and no OS disks were provided. Sent me probably 15 emails wanting drivers etc. Nightmare.

I bought a DVD and paid. The DVD arrived in good condition. Two days later I got negative feedback from the seller along the lines of 'the buyer was really bad and I would not deal with this buyer again ever'.

I mailed the seller to ask the reason for the feedback and he said it was because I had not placed any feedback yet. FFS.

gzt: what is the problem with hotmail?

The only time Ive ever had problems with communication has been when a buyer has used hotmail. They've always claimed to have never received anything from me as a buyer. If someone buys my item why would I not want to get in touch with them !

When Ive left neutral feedback asking for them to get in touch because Ive had no reply I still get negative saying its my fault. I email TM and they organise having the deal and feedback removed.

Have a look through the forums to see how many others have had the same problem.
