Lol I regret starting this now xD ED is not an option because A, im not wasting my petrol driving there, B, no one will drive me there at this hour, C, its completely painless at the moment, I haven't eaten anything for a very very long time so I need something in me hahaha and I'm taking this opportunity.
Just catching up on Coro now and will be in bed withen the hour. You guys are fantastic, and tomorrow morning when I get up I'll take two Nurofen liquid capsules so to avoid anything before then. That shouldn't cause any issues tomorrow for the anaesthetic if they do give me any will it?

Nope, you should be right taking the ibuprofen - as mentioned, just stick to the recommended dosing (which should be no more than 400mg every 8 hours).

Sorry - crowded emergency waiting rooms for no good reason make me angry...

Oh crap.... please tell me you had food with those voltaren. Never take them without food (or any tablets unless it says so.) Get some food into you and hit the sack. You will be fine until you get to the dentist. Yes take the nurofen in the morning...but dont take anything after 7am. (unless its panadol) That will give the dentist scope if he needs to give you anything different.

looking at your mcnz, you dont work in emergency department.

look at this NZ emergency tutorial

my point: it is quite common to see patient with toothache in ED. it wont take more than 5 minutes to sort it out

Lol trust me I know, I've worked as an orderly in Middlemore Hospital ED on a Friday and Saturday night shift, the doctors are never happy dealing with stupid sh!t like drunken morons or people who've grazed a knee. That place is always packed at night, its insane. So glad I dont have to be there anymore and I don't particularly want to go back and be on the other side this time lol.

And I had a bit of bread with the voltaren earlier on because parents said not to have it on an empty stomach.

Theres no way I'm getting up before 7 xD so I'll just leave it then, I'll probably wake up around 9 or 10. Not a good idea I guess. Unless I wake up before then.

good for you. it sounds like the pain is not that bad after all. you better off stay away from ED then.

At the moment it isn't bad. I'm not saying tomorrow it wont be but if you guys say nothing after 7am then I wont risk it and just tolerate it for a bit longer if it means it gets sorted out. I'm gonna die if its something just stupidly simple. I know dentistry is never that simple but I'm sure you guys are interested in all the details when I find out too tomorrow.

i am certain that they will give you antibiotics, analgesia and rebook you for treatment 1-2 weeks later.

I'd wager that I spend more time in the emergency department than you do. I have worked at least 12 months in various emergency departments in NZ and Australia, and in the course of my usual work attend emergencies fairly regularly.

Yes, if someone presented to ED with a toothache then they would eventually get seen and be given some sort of treatment and/or advice. However, there are much better places to go to where you will receive the same treatment without unnecessarily burdening the public system, which is often busy particularly on a Friday night. So not only will it take time before you're seen, it will utilise precious time and resources that could be spent seeing patients with actual emergency problems.

When one of your car's indicator lights isn't working, would you call the AA for an urgent onsite replacement?

You took the last voltaren50 at 11pm....so thats 7am before you can take anything other than voltaren (except panadol) so if the pain is just mild when you get up then just take panadol. The dentist will probably just tell you to take nurofen anyway but you really need to see him first.

See, most reasonable people would probably either a) cope with the fact that one lamp is out and you invariably have at least two others on the same side, or b) go to the nearest service station for a new bulb.

Clearly there's little point continuing this discussion - remember, ED is for emergencies, and AA is for breakdowns.
