freitasm:googleantitrust: This is the true extent of monopolies in this Country and overseas - so I do not expect any high level analysis from your average IT consultant who gets his news from CNN and the Herald, or even the NBR for that matter.
Cheers :)
Wow. Some pointed accusations there. Obviously, from your point of view, there's only one person in this thread who is aware of all the machinations of evil companies such as Google, then?
As I said before, take off your tinfoil hat. There's no space here for crazy conspiracy theories.
googleantitrust: Who is this chatcter who always jumps up with the "Tinfoil Hat Conspiracy" comment everytime he reads something a bit beyond him?

sleemanj: An SEO person irate that their tricks are not getting them on "page one" any more. Well colour me surprised, who would have thought that :-/
Sorry, but 99% of "SEO" companies out there just make my skin crawl. Sure there's a tiny few good honest ones that will advise their clients "produce good content, have good relationships, get people to your site, build it right and they will come", but 99% of them use underhanded tricks, link farming, quackery, and simply give silly false promises.
I don't think I'd be alone on Geekzone in my opinion. This probably isn't the right place for you to be drumming up support.

RedJungle: I'm sorry, but I firmly believe that 'SEO' is something basic that is done by any competent web developer while they build your website - if a site is built using 'Best Practices' then Google (or any other crawler) will index your site just fine.
My experience of 'SEO experts' is they try to bend the rules/exploit algorithms to artificially raise page rank higher than they should really be given the content they provide. I advise all my clients to avoid anyone who claims to be a SEO expert like the plague. And instead, to spend their budget on focusing on producing great content, and being relevant to the search terms you want people to find you under.

My views (except when I am looking out their windows) are not those of my employer.

Where do you think the NZ finance companies were getting their money mate? Printing it themselves? They all had MASSIVE advances and overdrafts with the big banks both her and overseas. This big banks new exactly where the market was going, mostly because they control interest rates.
That is not too difficult to understand is it? Just because it is beyond your level of comprehension, does not make it a conspiracy theory.
People who cannot understand how monopoly abuse works are not much use to this conversation really.
