This would replace a DishTV S7090PVR, a Hauppauge Nova T500 and a Hauppauge Nova HD-S2 as a PVR and media center.

Would be nice to have something that makes it all simple.

I would use it to replace my mysky box and save some money.  Currently only record freeview channels so this would fit in well.

I would love to be in to win, our sky box is a little buggy at times and I love the idea of being able to record more from tv too; our DVD recorder is getting a little full.

Yep got to be in to win,

We have one on trial at the workshop at the mo, am struggling to get any reasonable performance with premierleaguepass.com, but will keep trying.

It would replace the link from my computer to my Sony TV, and it would replace the small anroid box we currently have under the tv. It will also replace the 1TB Network Media tank we have, that we currently use for streaming.

The keyboard on the back of the remote is very cool, the mouse is a little bit quirky, but you get used to it, The Chinese remotes we got for the android boxes are a bit better, because they work a bit like a WII controller.

Angry birds and TV reception, it doesn't get any better than that!

Would like to replace my current setup - which consists of nothing! I have a satellite dish with nothing connected to it and would love to get freeview up and running as we dont have coverage via aerial at my address in Raumati Beach.
Cheers

Brumfondl: Due to financial constraints I recently had to get rid of Sky, and with the digital switch-over last night and my lack of Freeview, i now have a TV sitting in my lounge that is nothing but a glorified monitor so the DTVS Smart1 Satellite Receiver would be a perfect replacement for Sky and give us something to watch in the lounge again :)

This sounds like a great toy.  I would replace both my cheap DVB-S box & my Xbox 360 because 99% of the time my Xbox gets fired up, it is for playing music or videos from a PC or flash drive.
Since upgrading my PC & purchasing a PC receiver for my Xbox controllers (some games just work better with a controller,) I have had no desire to play games on my Xbox.

Winning this prize would mean my husband (also a member of GZ) would get much delight in being able to play with yet another gadget ... this one for our mutual benefit...

As you can (hopefully!) see from the image our TV is one that Noah watched on the Ark ...

I'm actually not sure that it can still receive images;  it has the wonderful ability to snow on the inside and out (aka dust)...

What would set up would this be replacing ... Hmmmm... one that currently doesn't work.  I mean, we have a dish on our roof but it doesn't talk the same language as our TV (does anything??)... I guess it would be a bit like explaining the parallel between Latin and English in that one founded the other.

Winning this would mean that my wonderful husband and I would be able to watch TV together ... on the same screen ... rather than streaming programmes through our laptops... it would give us "quality" time together as a couple... it would mean we wouldn't have any excuse to stay glued to our laptops (under the pretext of 'work').

And then we could get one of those wonderful, modern, flat screen jobs that sit on the wall and free up valuable floor space in our somewhat space-deprived living room!   We'd be card-carrying members of the entertainment-savvy 21st Century.

Now.  Wouldn't that be fun!?

And just in case anyone is wondering - yup! - this IS our one and only TV!

I currently do not have a satellite receiver so this would be an excellent start for the home theatre I am planning.

It's best suited as a replacement for a video tape recorder – which I loved as a child! Then again Dad worked for 3M so we got Scotch tapes cheap.

I'd love it because I am a huuuuuuuuge sports fan, but don't have a DVR/My Sky - why? Well, I did work for GoW but MCG let me go because of - well - he said cashflow issues, but I think it was more that he didn't like me much :-)

Hopefully only some of you can work out what that all meant. and I really need the DVTS :-)

This would replace our inability to watch TV. We have an old analogue television set, and this would allow us to watch television again.

The  DTVS Smart1 Satellite Receiver will replace a basic Satlink 2000 that does not do much apart from put an image on tv. Being in the central north island only have satellite as an option do we watch a lot of stuff via the internet on BBC Iplayer, netflix, youtube etc which means the laptop spends a lot of time beside the tv, so this will mean one less device beside the TV. Another bonus is that there is no need to run any more cables due to the wifi and it should be good for showing photos on as well.
One think I would have to test out is if it supports an external DVD drive to play movies on as my DVD player does not work and you guessed it the laptop is its replacement.

Fingers crossed

This would replace the dodgy dish freeview box we have, you know the one that crashes at the wrong part
of the program the missus wants to watch
It would bring peace to the household..

Yes I would like one, it would replace my Thomson, which replace 2 Transonic (useless) ones, the remote and screen EPG are the pretty much the same on Thompson and Transonic, so prob from same factory.

The remote works when it feels like, does not matter about distance or direction etc, drives me absolute nuts using it and does the odd freeze up and self reboot now and then.

So the Smart1 would solve the above, yes I do have a sat dish that's not being used.

Cheers
