This would sooo replace my parents old coship satellite receiver and finally give them a way to view video files I have for them on USB rather than having to burn to blank DVDs all the time!

Awesome giveaway and thanks for the review too.

I would use this to replace our DVB-T freeview as it just goes directly into the TV.
It would replace my WDTV as well!

This will be replacing my parents Dish TV satellite receiver which is very unstable, crashes all the time and they've told me it's corrupted itself a few times deleting recordings in the process. I think an Android based set top box would be awesome since I can get it to boot into XBMC to stream content from their laptop and other devices over the network as well as stream Freeview over the network to devices.

In other words, I'm hoping to find a solution that can record and play back media / recordings as well as actually not crash all the time.

This would be replacing a very cheap DVB-T box from The Warehouse and would supplement the MySky HDi in the main room (I already have a satellite connection to use).  I was thinking of buying another Raspberry Pi for the family room but this would provide all the things I need, Decoder, PVR and Media Player - what a great piece of kit this is.

Better than my current setup!!

Well the review makes these sound pretty impressive and would certainly help replace that I accidently stuffed the aeriel plug into my tv so I can't use he built in Freeview anymore so I need something to help actually get my 50" plasma back to being something more than a glorified Xbox or PC monitor.

Good luck to all who enter.

After recently ditching mySKY and reverting to Freeview i'm finding my poor reception to cause a multitude of artifacts during any broadcast during any weather other than perfect.

As such, it won't be replacing anything, but bringing me back to satisfying home life.

Hi. This would replace mysky as I am sick to death of paying to record mainly free to air programs.

I'm gonna be in to win!

It wouldn't 'replace' anything,m but as we are going digital in December, my bedroom TV will need a digital STB, and as we already have the dish (for Sky in the lounge), it will save me hanging an aerial up.

Free is good. Especially geeky free!

I am very interested to replace my current receiver above with this DTVS! I gave up my Sky TV subscription 2 months ago and very happy with freeview. This DTVS will be an awesome replacement for my current receiver and my laptop! I used my laptop to play YouTube videos and this DTVS will allow me to do everything from ONE box. This also means less cable around the TV. I have already recommend to few of my mates who are looking to ditch SKY TV for freeview. The price you pay for this device alone is worth it!

Ahh nice!

A single device that can replace my current XBMC machine and Vu+ Duo STB ... and being Android I could probably play Angry Birds on it!!
Looks like it is easy to use, which means it would gain a very high WAF (Wife Acceptance Factor) very important for a device to last longer than 1 night in the living room , failed devices end up in the man cave ;)

This is what I'd want to swap out :

This is the remote for my satellite receiver. The remote quit working a while ago, so although I can still change the channel on the box, I can't rescan without the remote, so I'm slowly losing channels as they switch frequencies...

Something with a working remote would be great. Not to mention all the other features...
