garvani: Useless couriers are not just found in New Zealand. I ordered a couple of tshirts from a custom design place in the states, they use DHL, great i thought having had fast delivery times through them before. Not so much with this one. Said items were purchased on the 6th of October and here is the tracking information as of today:

global mail is like regular mail.  it's dhl express that is fast.

that said i found both take around 9 days to get to nz.  like if order in the weekend it'll come wed week when they send on the monday.  which you could call 8 days as that's tuesday in nz.

actually that was usps, global mail is actually 7 days, send monday arrive monday.

untracked uk mail comes in 6 days though.

That IS pretty awesome but not the couriers fault, that's sorting staff, and they're a whole different issue. Either someone's missed the packet in the bottom of a container, or they've lobbed it in the wrong bin. The end result is an unhappy customer :(

I once saw a packet addressed from the UK to Italy, got to the Kihikihi post shop. That's a whole lot of people screwing it up.

they are so bad I now try to avoid using those shops that insist on using them. unfortunately this includes computerlounge.

you can pay computerlounge $4.95 or something to use courierpost.  that's what i do.

i had invoices swapped around with DHL once, they had US invoice on my package for a different item.  dealing with DHL when  the wrong invoice with it was very difficult.  they kept saying they'd fixed it when they hadn't, .. and it delayed item by about a week.  then they tried to charge me for "fixing" the invoice, which i had to get from sender.  clearly on their web site they say that they handle all the customs stuff, and to my mind they should be checking the proper paperwork is in place before sending.  apparently the US one went through fine though.

Also DHL seem to have slow customs times.   if you look at USPS or such mail it often takes a few hours, whereas with DHL it often takes a day or two.

Luckily when it's passed onto courierpost it usually comes next day. (if it clears customs at 5 am, it'll still be next day though afaik..)

Just thought I'd share my experience with NZ Couriers:

They've had my package since the 25th of October, tried delivering but nobody was home.
Left card to call (the online version) - did this online, said it will be delivered on the Tuesday (5th of November) - waited around, nothing.
Phoned them - Got told it'll be here on the Wednesday, they apologized for the delay, said the card didn't exist.
Next day, nothing, phoned them again and got told it's a new driver, will be here Thursday.
Thursday came, phoned them only to be told there's nothing for my address:
- Got tracking number from sender.
- Guy was adamant it was not for my address.
- Asked him to verify by finding package.
- Apologized and said it was.
- Said it'll be on the next courier out (today)
Today comes, no courier up to now. Phoned up NZ Couriers to be told it's with the driver and will be delivered tonight, we will see...

And this is the weirdest turn of events:

Courier never turned up, got a phonecall from the call centre at 8pm, offered to escalate it to the night shift contractor.
Contractor rung me up at 9pm, said he'll get the package out to me tonight.
9:30pm, said he's tracked it down, going to fetch it.
10:40pm, said he's got the package, coming out now to deliver it to me.

And now it's been delivered:

The courier driver was really apologetic, came all the way from Upper Hutt :)
