I remember reading a thread on geekzone awhile back about couriers leaving a calling card and not knocking on doors, or attempting to deliver the parcel. Just had a similar thing happen 2 weeks ago. Today however, no knock on the door, no calling card, no parcel. Just a change in status online saying to call the number on my calling card (which is nowhere to be found). I was expecting delivery monday as it was sent friday morning on overnight post. The response from nzcouriers was "sorry we will try again wednesday"
I told them where to stick it and will be requesting all purchases online to go via courier post. As their pimped out vans with ear bleeding music atleast let you entire street know that parcels are on the way. Also the guy in my area from courier post doesnt just knock, he almost breaks down the front door. Much preferred when compared to the ninjas over at nzcouriers.
I know there are probably others with a similar experience, would it help if i was to write on delivery instructions "deliver, dont drive by" or something to that effect?

In my experience CourierPost are not much better.

You'll find similar complaints about every courier company on here somewhere. It all comes down to the individual driver who delivers to your place. Some are good, some are not.

I agree that this is entirely a problem with individual drivers rather than companies, so changing your courier provider isn't a reliable fix.

I've ended up signing "permission to leave" agreements with most of the courier companies after missing too many deliveries despite someone usually being in the house - AFAIK only NZ-post won't let you sign one of these (so I still have to be there to sign for any random dealextreme or hong kong ebay purchases). I just get them to leave the parcels on our front step or the letterbox, but this of course would depend a lot on your house and neighbourhood situation.

same in chch.. if the parcel is not too big they give it to the poor biker lady..

so normally they refuse to carry it on them.. far enough.. but the company did pay
to have the parcel deliveried and signed for..

the nz post (red van) for ya..

as they dont knock on door but slide a note in letterbox

last year they did delivery and sign for if was needed by van.. however it was always at
a early time like 7am when people arent dressed or having a lay in on the weekend.

theyre always cutting back..espc out skirts of the main city

Depends where you are and who it's from. With some senders, they stick a "Signature Required - NO AUTHORITY TO LEAVE" sticker on the item and no matter what authority you gave the courier company, they wont deliver without someone there. 2degrees does this. For NZ Post, they allow Authorities to Leave in some places. Though some senders, they will refuse to leave the item (passports, EziBuy, licenses, prescription medicine by mail, etc) even with the form filled out.

Yeah, it's down to the driver, more than the company. One of the couriers that delivers to us fairly often, even if I see his van pull in to the driveway, by the time I walk to the front door he's gone, having thrown either the parcel or the calling card over the gate.

Not all close at weekend, but you pay more for weekend delivery.

NZ Courieers aren't useless at all unless of course you have used every courier they have. NZC have been around for years and are still one of the more dependable couriers around especially nationally.

Lets remember they are really setup to do the business sector and not rush around the suburbs looking for houses and having to get or not get a signature, also look at how much it costs to do this. Not making excuses but people need to put things into perspective.

Funny to see NZ Couriers thread here just as I was about to rant about them here.

I bought a new Nokia 925 from AKL and saw from online tracking that it was scanned "On Board" today at 10:38. Waited all day to finally see that is was delivered at 5:58. Well done. I wonder who got my new phone as it definitely did not come to me.

How bloody difficult it is to check the address where you are and where you are supposed to be.
Of course NZ Couriers customer support closed down at 6 pm so no tracking down the phone today.
Hopefully whoever got the phone brings it over tonight as we live on pretty honest neighbourhood.

I find my NZ Couriers driver good
He even goes to the trouble (if its a small package) of going round to the back of the house and putting it through the cat door when no one is home.

I now get items delivered to me at work rather than home. Manned reception with cameras, so they can't claim they came when they didn't etc. Plus, they seem to treat corporate deliveries more seriously than home deliveries and (I guess) we are big enough that they don't want to lose our business.

It's not same day delivery as I do not live in AKL. Phone was picked up yesterday.

Things done so far:
1. Checking order confirmation email had correct address.
2. Calling NZC Hamilton branch --> directed to after hours support -->"oh yes, it was definitely delivered by courier 155 but we do not have individual couriers details. Please call back tomorrow after 8am."

So I'm quite confident I have enough information to go "feral"

cool maybe if you had more information in yor post as it never said it was picked up yesterday nor you were in Hamilton hence my post. Not unreasonable you call back in morning but no excuse for wrong delivery but it happens.

I've had the NZ Courier driver fake a sig for my parcel, bend it and jam it into the mailbox. I try request CourierPost because the local driver is a champ, but sometimes my memory lapses and I almost always pay for it.
