JimmyH: ... designed for people with the attention span of a goldfish rather than the ability to follow a plot for a whole 40 minutes.

Forty minutes is too long and most TV programs are designed for goldfish.  smile

Geektastic: I think my biggest complaint so far is that they look like a bad Boyband....

Yes making them younger was a mistake.

Same, I could only manage the first five minutes.

Gotta say it - Brains bears an uncanny resemblance to Paul Henry... undecided

Used to watch it as a kid, so tuned into the first episode tonight.
Had to force myself to watch the whole program. Don't think I will watch any more episodes.
Agree with most of the previous posts from people who don't like it.
Will be interesting to see what the critics have to say about it.

Still like Parker, but the new Lady Penelope is a big failure.

I just watched it, i didn't mind it and will give it another shot.
Pro: The Jeff Tracy Voice is almost perfect
Con: He says 'Two' all wrong
Pro: Classic vehicle looks with a modern twist and some more practical elements
Con: The fancy 'remote control' bits are a bit far fetched

In general I think it works well with its intended audience and has enough hooks for the older generation - if you can 'suspend belief' and don't expect too much.

Looks like regular shows will be 30 minutes (including ads) so attention span not as taxed. I agree that it hit the mark for the target audience of 5 to 12 year olds with a nod to the parents who watched the original series. But please go back and watch the original series but before criticising too much. The Tracys all had American accents and the boys were supposedly teenagers in that too.

I also thought Brains looked like Paul Henry. Did you see Grandma's ugg boots and hear one of the brothers refer to his brother as 'bro' ?

Watched with an open mind last night with my two boys (8 & 10) and my wife (not 8 or 10) - all of whom are either familiar with or fans of the original.

All in all a thumbs up from the boys, the wife and a maybe from me.

The action was very Thunderbirds, but some of the changes I found jarring. When did Brains take on a Sub-Continent accent/persona? Why did they suddenly have to have holographic remote controls? etc.

Other bits were very well done - i.e. a CGI Thunderbird 2, coming in close to the water (which looked very real) and the jetwash looking like that of the original series.

I'll watch again.

It's set in 2060 so makes sense to me.

Sideface: What - no strings?
I watched the original as a child, with my father.
I am now 70 years old.
This will appeal to people who have never seen the original.
I prefer the old version (all episodes are still available - with strings).

Considering it came out in 1965, it's really nice that you were able to sit down as a 20 year old "child" and watch this with your dad. wink

Personally I'm tired of all these remakes for the purposes of cashing in on a trip down memory lane. They should use a bit of imagination and create something new instead of "playing it safe" and rehashing the old.

Anyway Thunderbirds without side arms and constant smoking is no longer Thunderbirds.
