I do not know if it will make any of you feel better about the speeding fines, but this is the way I look at it. When I lived and worked in Wellington I picked up several 55 60 kmh fines, it was inevitable. I think of them as just another form of road tax. As pointed out earlier Its a myth that speeding at that level causes accidents Or so the stats say. What cause the majority of accidents in my mind would have to be bad drivers, Lack of driver education, driving under the influence of something, and poor cars and poor roads.
While I have the soap box They insist we wear seat belts to stop injury in accidents. Why do they not put speed limiters on cars to stop speeding? and in all seriousness if you want to stop drink drivers killing themselves and other easy 1st offense? banned from driving for life 2nd offense Life in prison What ? to harsh.
