The Human Rights Commissioner Susan Devoy is objecting to some of the bias in the survey:

Waatea News: One question asks people to respond to the statement ‘Maori should not receive any special treatment’.

The commission says that’s a leading statement demonstrating a clear bias that Maori already receive ‘special treatment’.

Another question about much control should Maori have over their own affairs effectively asks whether Maori New Zealanders deserve fewer human rights than other New Zealanders.

To whom do we address our complaints concerning the pointlessness of Mz Devoy?

It identifies me as a patriot whereas I am most certainly a globalist (having lived in 3 countries and travelled to 65)

Many of the questions seem designed to elicit a strong response one way or the other.

Btw are the text questions dependent on the initial responses? I did not see at all the 'affairs' question the HRC raised above.

The question I ask.. if this is the survey we are doing now... how have they created the groupings (e.g. Globalist, Skeptic etc..) beforehand?

I expect they made informed assumptions about the kinds of results that were likely to come in, and grouped the categories accordingly. I actually came out as a globalist, which was pretty spot on when I read their definition of that. Of course one can spot the handful of trigger questions that would lead down that path, such as being an immigrant and length of residence in NZ.

Here's my questions excluding the glyph selection and rating screens:

Apologies for lack of formatting. Maybe rich editor does not work on my platform.

Kiwimeter. What kind of kiwi are you?

Nothing brings New Zealanders together like a sporting event.
The British monarch should no longer be New Zealand's head of state.

Most immigrants these days don't try hard enough to fit into New Zealand society.
All immigrants can retain their cultural values without being any less of a New Zealander.
It is important for New Zealand to retain it's ties to the British Commonwealth
We rely too much on science and not enough on faith.
Māori should not receive any special treatment.
A history of discrimination has created conditions that make it difficult for Māori to be successful.
Sport is too much a part of New Zealand's national psyche.
New Zealand is not perfect, but its values are superior to others.
Wealthy people have a greater obligation than everyone else to help those who are in need.
Religion should not have any influence in the affairs of government.
New Zealand should participate in humanitarian intervention efforts abroad.
Refugees should be welcomed in New Zealand.
Kiwis have a unique set of values that distinguish New Zealand from the rest of the world.
New Zealand's British heritage should be central to its national identity.
Good sportsmanship sets New Zealanders apart from other people.
In New Zealand, the gap between those with high incomes and those with low incomes is too large.
How proud of New Zealand does it make you feel when it comes to the following:
What is your choice for the New Zealand flag?

I'd be sceptical of that...

Here's a post on Public Address that has some background information on how the six groupings were developed, and a perspective on the problems with the execution of this survey:

Honestly, I don't see what the fuss is about. It was just a survey.

I can see why. At the very very least the questions are badly introduced. Therefore they are not really questions.

It actually bears comparison with US style politial party push polling.
