They need to calm their people, be leaders, that is what they are there for. They don't want this to become a wildfire, nobody wins from that.

I do not find it surprising that Trump's more outrageous promises are being withdrawn from his website and I'm sure the toning down will continue, but I do have to wonder what the angry idiots who voted for those policies think about this. Oh gee, we chose the anti-establishment billionaire because he said he would do this and that but he is just another corrupt politician who says one thing but does something else so we are being shafted yet again. How can this be!

I certainly do not object to those more outrageous promises being withdrawn, but I do find it ironically amusing that the haters who thought they finally had a voice for their prejudice and bigotry are getting it in the backside by their champion. May this promising trend continue.

You can only really go on the facts. 

Look at his pledge to the American people. This is what he promised, all that campaign rhetoric was exactly that. Rhetoric. He said whatever he needed to get elected. His comments about "shooting someone in the middle of 5th street and I wouldn't lose any votes" is EXACTLY right.

Our media is actually really really bias. Its not telling the true story of what is going on inside America. I am so sick of NZ herald and Stuff. There are some fascinating reads out there, especially by George Friedman.

The people in central USA, which voted for trump (the rust belt). Is tired of Obamacare, they were tired of seeing their brothers coming back in body bags, they were tired of seeing their America disappear. They believe it is a revolution. And then Donald got up and said, I will stand and fight for you, im a billionare and I will not be corrupted.

Its clear he was pulling every trick in the book to get elected. Now that it has happened, I suspect he will focus back onto his policies on his websites.

I heard rumors that a couple of multi-billionares offered him deals to drop out of the race, and he declined, I don't know how true this is, but some people (even in NZ) feel vindicated by a Trump win.

Australia has been so far up the USA's Obama administrations and the bush administration for that matters .... that I am not surprised that the sydney morning herald is telling very bias stories. 

Don't get me wrong, I have my fingers crossed that Trump will be a good president, like you all I still experience some levels of anxiety about the whole thing too but I am hoping for the best.

Obama did a skit on (i think) SNL where he ended it saying "if/when i go down, I will go down as the president" hinting that Trump had no chance in hell. Anyway, revenge is always best served cold and we must ask Obama how the humble pie tasted.

I just saw the latest episode of South Park. They have been running a series parodying the American election. The thing is, this last episode already incorporates the election result and is at least partially based on it. How did they manage that so quickly? I know an episode normally only takes them a week, but they must have done this one in a day. Impressive. Or did they actually make two episodes, one for each result? I find it intriguing.

 

 

 

Animators can put things together much more quickly than you might realize. It wouldn't be taking them near a week to do it, they would generally prepare many episodes prior to the start of the TV Season.

Except the second part is simply not true, or we don't really know for sure because he won't release his tax returns...

 

 

 

 

Have you seen his house(s), plane, cars...... those are  not purchased with chump change. His net worth is estimated at $3.7 Billion. As a private citizen his financials are private and until he is sworn in he is still a private citizen. I am not sure if the USA has similar disclosure laws for elected Government members as we have here.

 

Also, how many people care more about his tax returns than any of the other things he has said or done! The lack of Tax Returns not being supplied despite it being traditional, apparently didn't sway many. I think we are seeing that tradition doesn't count for much in the minds of at least half Americans.

NZ should separate itself from what is happening domestically in the USA and focus on the business of Diplomatic and Trade relationships.

 

 

I feel thats what we are doing. John Key is smart, he will act intelligently I feel.

 

The stock market has bounced back just like that, quite surprising it was that quick. I expect his gracious attitudes post win have helped. Realisation that he is the President

Markets don't react to the tone of acceptance speeches in my experience. I believe it was a normal the markets were disrupted as a result of an unexpected result. The true state of the markets is not known yet, but as someone said, they look exceptionally fragile. He can't do much if any damage yet, the true state will be revealed in the 12 months post inauguration when the world gets to see how much of what he said, he intends to inact in exactly the way he presented it (as opposed to a heavily modified way as is more likely).

Despite the claims of some here, he can not do THAT much without the support of his party who have the house and senate, and a lot of those people have shown outright dissension toward his more outlandish policies.
