You can buy shotguns with breeching attachments on the barrel end and special cartridges - you push the muzzle hard up against the door hinge and BANG - do it to each hinge and the door just falls in!

Haha, very quick though I suspect falls outside the "non-descructive entry" goal somewhat :P Gotta do what you gotta do though.

Tactical Explosive Entry would be a lot more fun. A bit outside the scope of the Fire Service though :-)

Yes, about a decade ago my friend's father died of a heart attack. An aggravating factor was that he and his wife had recently moved into a residential housing development which had electric gates, and she didn't know how to open the gate remotely, and certainly her panic would not have helped. Consequently there was a delay in allowing access to the ambulance, and I believe that in the end the paramedics had to scale the fence and run to the house with their equipment in order to provide a first response - one medic tended to the person while the other went door to door to find someone to open the gate.

It's one of those "what if" scenarios that the family lives with now - what if the ambulance had been able to get in with no delay? Would the 10 or so minutes lost while she tried to find the gate switch and/or remote opener have been enough to save his life?
