Still no forms or contact from them - I checked the post today.

I have my browsers configured to reject cookies. So I guess it won't be possible to compete the census.
Then you'll need to waste the collectors' time and complete one on paper. Why don't you just allow cookies for the Census website and do it online?
Waste collector's time? They are getting paid and they will get info in return. Doesn't seem like a waste.
What about my time? If it's like my recent experience with IRD, it will be quicker on paper.
As general rule I only create profiles and enable cookies when there is something in it for me.
In this instance there isn't. It's not like I'm getting paid for my time.

gzt: The real question is - will the combined efforts of Luke Skywalker and the Humanist Society cause a reduction in Jedi this year?
Personally I think Skywalker is still in agony about that one..
Edit: maybe not but no spoilers here..
I was a bit surprised 'socialism' was listed as a religion by Stats NZ...
Oh FFS - that was probably the worst census form I've ever experienced.
As my highest qualification in biology was acquired overseas and long before NCEA levels existed, I have no idea how they'll hope to understand that when in the "dwelling survey" I was asked about whether there was any mould in the house larger than an A4 sheet of paper, I did mention that there's some kind of purplish stain on the wall behind the fridge, but as I've never studied mycology formally, I'm not qualified to assess whether that was mould, spilled paint, or an old experiment in psilocybin synthesis that I'd forgotten about.
When asked if I had difficulty remembering things, of course I then answered "no".
Who the F&%& was responsible for that abject shambles of a questionnaire? (past govt employees or present?). They will get what they deserve from it I think - a load of utter crap.

Reminds me of the year they asked for my occupation, and I put "Backyard Brain Surgeon & Part Time Skateboard Technician".
Don't stress NZ, that was a 90's census in Oz.
I'm just amazed that it was able to autocomplete my place of employment - and ask which office I'm in - only to then have to ask me what my employer actually does.
zxspectrum:
If the Australian online census was brought down by sustained attacks on the website, can we expect to be targeted also? Are we better prepared? Certainly hope so as this is important data to gather - and to keep safe.
IIRC, that was the initial story, but it later transpired that it was - as might be expected - a simple matter of incompetence, poor planning and lack of available capacity.
Of course, that was a much less exciting story than "hackers crash Census", so nothing heard in the MSM

If they have competence, good planning and capacity, does that mean they cannot be taken down? I doubt it. If it was that easy, security online would not be the issue it is.

I see you don't use much of the internet at all then.
This census will show a drop in population.
The largest group is the elderly / retired, yet they make it so hard to get forms for relatives who are not online!
Going by relatives reaction.....some can't be bothered with the hassle!
The call center make it even more difficult!

It does tend to attract a disproportionate level of fanatics so they do have an argument there.

I feel like I should say something here....
Delete cookies?! Are you insane?!
Geektastic: So a week to go and still no documents.
Is it an offence not to fill in something they don't send you?
How do you know they didnt send it? Seems like everyone has theirs. Check the local PO perhaps. They may just give you home detention and 30 lashes for a first offence
