I drink Pepsi Max mostly (and the new Vanilla variety isn't bad either), but do grab a Zero or Diet from time to time, but I only bought No Sugar once, didn't like it.

I can only conclude that No Sugar is cheaper for them to make or something.

They are trying to anticipate what they regard as the inevitable - a sugar tax. A number of countries already have implemented one and no doubt Coke do not want to be behind the curve in market share.

From the UK:

"Drinks with total sugar content above 5g per 100 millilitres will be taxed at 18p per litre and drinks above 8g per 100 millilitres at 24p per litre.

This means a standard can of regular Coke, which currently costs around 70p, would be hit with a 8p increase."

That aligns with the taste test herald did. No bubbles, super sweet

Guess thats what you get when you use something thats nearly 2x stronger in same dose :D

You seem to be confused. Coke Zero is called Coke Zero because it has Zero sugar. They are trying to replace Coke Zero which actually tastes good with Coke No Sugar which does not taste good. Neither contain Sugar.

I don't like Stevia much. As a Type 1 Diabetic I use artificial sweeteners all the time, and Stevia powder is very much last-resort territory, I don't like the taste or texture which I find kind of grainy (maybe just the brand I tried I suppose but it put me right off).

For dry powders Splenda wins hands down followed by Equal.

For hot drinks liquids and such Sugromax is best but care must be taken as an unpleasant taste will easily show through if you over do it (I think it would be the saccharin), Sucaryl I find very weak by comparison (same sweeteners).

Sugar free sweets etc are usually sweetened with sugar alcohols, Xylitol, Ethritol etc, which are ok but give baked beansm cabbage and onions a run for their money if you know what I mean.

Right, I think your and geektastic's thought process is that people who drink the sugar coke now, and DON'T like Zero/Diet, need ideally to be transitioned to a No Sugar coke.

But reality is a lot of people drink Zero but Coca Cola is actively working to get rid of Zero in favour of No Sugar, which people don't like as much.

I suppose 4 products (5 if you could Caffeine Free Diet, and more if you count Vanilla etc variants but they tend to come and go) is maybe a problem, but in that case they should maybe just market Zero since it's more popular anecdotally, more popular in Australasia that is, for some reason the rest of the world didn't like it much.

Pretty much.

I tacked onto Zero for a while but got to the point when infrequent use leaves a bad taste on both fronts now. But yeap, its all about brand brand brand. And seems they want 1 version of sugarless to sit beside the red cans of normal. Not for black to remain

Ironically enough the only coke I don't like is the classic flavour. All the zero/low sugar cokes I like.

Stevia is quite sweet though. There's another carbonated drink, Sparking Oh, that I drink a bit. Fully stevia sweetened and I really only like the lime flavour as the rest are too sweet.
