I often have to do things four times. So if I accidentally touch a banister with my right hand I will do it another three times. Sometimes (I'm not as bad as I used to be) I would then have to touch it four times with my left hand.......and on occasion I have been known to repeat each of those patterns four times, so 16 in total for both hands.

I'll do it when walking too, four right steps and four left, maybe with a little hop at some point to make sure before I get to some kind of barrier, be that a crack in the pavement, the edge of the path, or a road when I cross it !

I also talk to myself when I'm stressing about something. Difficult conversations I need to have or people I would really like to admonish. I don't like confrontation or arguing unless it's on something I feel I know really well.

My wife bursts out laughing at me when I'm mowing the lawn chatting away to myself. I usually don't even know I'm doing it.

[e] One more is I will not walk across a sports field or court, especially if a game is going on. I just feel it's not my place to walk across something I'm not involved in. It was fine when I was coaching kids football and it was my team, but someone else's game I won't even cut the corner flag, I'll walk around and insist everyone else walking with me does it to.

We need a new cutlery set because we are starting to miss too many parts. I told the wife unless you can find the exact same set we need to dump that one and start again... Just like pegs... glasses... oh and plates

I'm not a complete idiot, I still have some parts missing.

Takes me a while to trust that my phone alarms are on. I'll check them 4 or 5 times, switching them on and off so it shows me how much time is left, then making sure that the volume is as loud as can be. This habit has taken many forms (that come and go), including making sure that the (non-gas) elements are off, and that doors are definitely locked. I used to count to 10 or 11 while looking at the phone/elements/doors, which gave me confirmation that they were definitely on/off/locked. But I've overcome that part of my habit.

I have a feeling that these habits are all linked to an incident I had some 20 or so years ago, when I didn't tighten the sprite bottle lid quite right and it spilled all throughout my grandmothers fridge.

Hmmm. I’m beginning to regret that someone started this thread.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

I put on my clothes in random order. My pegs are not colour-matched. If it's open, it gets eaten. Random stuff goes all over my plate. Clothes are stored in FIFO order. I drape clothes over drying racks without using pegs. I don't repeatedly check for lined-up towels on rails, locked doors, or lights. Car number plates and blinkenlights can be anything they want to be.

Could anyone read through that without screaming?

Same. Same. Same. Same. Mostly, but sometimes I'll mix things up. Same. Same. Same.

No screaming here!

:-) No screaming. The things that some here do, may seem odd or funny, but its more that they like structure. Quite interesting.

I listen to music most days, depending what's going on. But I listen to the same thing over and over and over, for weeks. Currently its David Bowie. Spotify, so after a few albums they give a LONG list so I do that. Weeks. Midnight Oil was the previous.

While driving with a photographer friend through Utah we recorded an HDR video of some of the scenery. Due to some software bug, the camera needed to have something frobbed every x minutes or it'd automatically shut down. x minutes was slightly less than the playtime of "Lotion" by the Greenskeepers and "Selfie" by the Chainsmokers. So for a few days we listened to nothing but Selfie and Lotion on loop play, frobbing the camera at the end of each track.

It puts the lotion on its skin,

Or else it gets the hose again...

But first, let me take a selfie.

Maybe it's a mortality thing, but if I'm ready to sleep and the bedside clock says hh:13, I wait sitting up with the light on until it clicks over to hh:14.

The longer this topic continues, then the less strange all these behaviours appear.

Quite often I will type a response to a topic here and then delete it because I thinks it's stupid... some of the stupid ones do slip through.

This topic feels like a safe place 🤓
