21 years??? Yeah right. Aramex NZ haven't operated that long, less than 5 years.
21 years with Fastway/Aramex is completely possible.
Yes, however the article implied Aramex. At any rate Fastway & Aramex are two different companies, not one.
I'm pretty sure Fastway was rebranded as Aramex.
Confirmed: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fastway_Couriers
"The company [started as Fastway in 1983] was acquired by Aramex in 2016...as part of the acquisition by Aramex, Fastway is in the transition of rebranding to Aramex in select regions such as Australia and New Zealand."
Telecom changing its name to Spark is a rebrand; new name, same company.
Fastway didn't change its name to Aramex, it was bought by another company called Aremex. Fastway no longer exists.

It’s a new name exactly the same shitshow underneath the surface
As I said, it's a new company. Aramex basically bought Fastway's courier runs.....so same runs, new company.
But yes it's still a shitshow....possibly even worse.

So far, it's taken them a week to collect the parcel from the supplier in Wellington CBD. It was scheduled to be delivered yesterday (day 8) in Upper Hutt. Failed to arrive and now showing "delayed".
They are still following their old LostWay business practices.
Will probably follow up with the retailer on Tuesday and request a replacement via click and collect since I can only assume they have lost the item in transit.
Update. Goods were delivered today (ANZAC Day). So a total of 11 days from Wgtn CBD to Upper Hutt.
scuwp: PB Tech. Small package took 6 days, but arrived. Odd thing was apparently by their tracking app I managed to sign for it while I was a good 2 hour drive away from home.
This is a bit of a bugbear of mine, it's fraudulent as far as I'm concerned.
benokobi: Runs and regions still franchised just a name change of the parent franchise
It's not "just a name change"! The call centre in Dubai should make that clear.

No-one is denying that Fastway was taken over by Aramex. The issue is that although the call centre is in Dubai, the couriers are here, and they are the same couriers and network as when they were called Fastway (which is the point of Aramex buying Fastway rather than starting afresh).
I was looking back through this thread and stated a year and a bit ago that I had never had an issue with Aramex.
That did not age well at all.
Last year in August, I ordered a bike for my wife from a large bike shop chain.
The bike was only in stock in the logistics warehouse, so was sent to me via courier - but first it had to be pre-assembled and then re-boxed and shipped from the local store.
I couldn't do click and collect due to the restrictions at the time.
Bike took two days to be picked and packed and sent to the bike shop.
After that it was a couple of days before it was then again picked up (a km away from my home) and taken to the Aramex depot, less than a km from my home (I live between the bike shop and the depot, so the boxed bike cam past my house).
I was all good with a few days as there were legitimate reasons for all of the wait times.
This is where the "Aramex effect" came to bear.
I had a tracking number that stated that the bike would be delivered on (roughly) the Thursday. Following Monday, that changed to "delayed".
6 weeks passed with many, many calls, emails and a threat of legal action for suspected theft and i finally got the bike delivered by someone in a normal car not dressed as a courier and with basically no people skills.
I have sworn since then, I would not use them ever again and I will insist that if a seller is using Aramex, I will shop elsewhere.

We use Aramex for all our TM sales, not had any issues that I can recall. And not had any parcels via them go missing on way to us either. Better than CP IMHO.
As is usual in discussions about couriers, it usually comes down to the individuals who own the local runs, and how big a workload they have been given.
Aramex/Fastway have historically performed poorly in Wellington, usually due to a shortage of drivers. I remember their service was particularly poor a few years back after several of their drivers quit following an article comparing the pay rates/terms of the standard courier companies was published (Fastway was right at the bottom of the list). They came right about a year later, but if the huge delays I've been having for the last couple of months from them is due to employees being affected by Covid, it just underlines how understaffed and overstretched they are here normally.
And regarding the whole "Fastway hasn't existed for years" comments, they should really update their branding: here's the bottom of the label from today's parcel (which was "overnighted" from Auckland on the 14th).
