ChatGPT 'may' seem to create its own 'alternative facts'.
It 'may' seem to fill gaps with 'inference' and 'assumption' to be more human, to give a natural language response.
Though its about 1000% too polite.

It does not reference the live internet to fact check and its hard to tell what its learnt.
To make the Ai fit in available resources there is pruning of weaker links it forms.
Your question may have been that weaker link.

ChatGPT plays chess like Trump plays golf. :-)

ChatGPT cheated
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iWhlrkfJrCQ

It knows there is a game called chess,
and knows it has 'some' rules,
but its more fun when it makes its own.

So it pays to verify, but advantage is that it can understand your question and at least give you material mostly organized you can check where search may have just given you junk.

Some of the technology reporting on this is quite laughable though about the all knowing Ai.

Edit ( That was a bit stronger than I intended. Its uncannily good for questions and languages its been trained on have lots of 'good' examples.
Where good data is sparse or a subject that was not extensive in its training, well )

Asked it to write an excuse for a parking ticket. Got a very nice polite letter. Said I didn’t like it and wanted a more personal one. It gave me a second option, not bad. I said didn’t like that either and could it come from the perspective that I am 95 years old. This is the impressive response. Am now wondering if it will think I really am 95 and give responses suited to that age when asked new questions. Could be fun to try.

Certainly, here's a more personalized response to contest the parking ticket from the perspective of a 95-year-old individual:

Dear [Parking Authority],
I am writing to appeal the parking ticket that I received on [date] for parking over the time limit. As a 95-year-old person, I hope you will consider my circumstances.
On the day in question, I was on my way to a medical appointment that I had been waiting for several weeks. Due to my age and mobility issues, it takes me longer to get to my destination, and I had to park farther away than usual. I didn't realize that I had parked for longer than the allotted time, as I was focused on getting to my appointment and back home safely.
When I returned to my car, I found a parking ticket on the windshield, and I was very upset. As an older person on a fixed income, I cannot afford to pay the fine. I am also concerned about my ability to continue driving, as my mobility has declined over the years, and I rely on my car to get around.
I kindly request that you consider my age and circumstances and waive the ticket. I assure you that I will be more careful to follow parking regulations in the future and that I greatly appreciate any consideration you can offer.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Sincerely,
[Your Name]

ChatGPT 'all your secrets belong to me'

Samsung reportedly leaked its own secrets through ChatGPT
Well that didn't take long, now did it?
https://www.theregister.com/2023/04/06/samsung_reportedly_leaked_its_own/

""
Less than three weeks after Samsung lifted a ban on employees using ChatGPT, the chaebol has reportedly leaked its own secrets at least three times – including sensitive in-development semiconductor information.
""

Open Ai have apparently also remarked that they have seen people...

User A Making a list of key points, or bullet points if you will.
Asking Chat GPT to turn that into a full document with explanations and detail.

This document then appears in user B's request 'some time later'.
That user asks ChatGPT to turn this into a list of key points.

Sooo they could have saved themselves even more time
If user A just sent the points, and user B was ok with that.

Plus yes your sessions are being monitored to improve the service.
Some maybe more interesting than others :-)

As a technical social media site, maybe we should have a dedicated AI forum here. For those who can read it, this is a very interesting article on present and likely future use of chatbot avatar clones of real people as a means of maintaining personal relationships with very large audiences. The article doesn't go into it, but I think this kind of thing could have enormous consequences in politics as well as every other sphere of human activity. Maybe Donald Trump could win votes with a personable avatar that convincingly replicates him, but presents a slightly softer side. The potential for abuse of this technology is staggering.
