Good call.. I've re read that series many times!

I too have the paperback series and have read it many times.

Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.

Was this ever shown here? I don't remember seeing it at the theatres, or even on TV - and I was 10 when it came out.

UK animation production with a David Bowie track and Roger Waters as musical director. I don't remember it. The IMDb short does look interesting and unique.

This one isn't a movie (it's a TV series) but I hadn't heard about it until tonight. It seems it was shown on TVNZ around 1987, but I must have missed it. Does it ring a bell with anyone here?

Children of Men is a great film,  it pretty much bombed at the box office when released but  In 2016  it was voted 13th among 100 films considered the best of the 21st century by 117 film critics from around the world

Yes please, it seems to be all over Youtube. Appears to have some parallels with the coronavirus pandemic too.

I agree it was shown on nztv as I came here in early 1980s and remember it well previous country I lived in didn't speak English... . I think I've got the series on dvd somewhere.

Also enjoyed day of the triffids from early 1980s. Theme song was a single piano key played faster and faster building up tension...

That's the original series. There's also a later remake which is a pretty good watch from 2008 https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1258189/

Both are worth a watch.

I remember my parents watching the original Survivors.  The remake was ok but short lived.

1977 perhaps. 1980s would have been reruns.

There were two seasons - first season (1975) was good, second season (1976) garbage.
Very slow paced. Remade in the late 2000s.
First season was written by Terry Nation (Doctor Who, Blakes Seven)

Most of the way through the first season now.. It's definitely dated in places (to be expected from something that came out nearly 50 years ago) but still very watchable.

Hey! Just wait a couple of decades or so and you could be in the cast of the ultimate end of the world movie.
