I just finished re-watching The Quiet Earth and it's a good Kiwi movie, although I never understood the ending (did anyone?)

What are your favourite apocalypse-type movies? Omega Man and 28 Days Later are two more that immediately come to mind.

Village of the Damned from 1960. Its apocalyptic for a village anyway.

This is not a genre I like. The plots are often very similar with predictable characters.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

I tried to find "The Quiet Earth" a few months back. Maybe I didn't look in the right places, but had no luck.

Watched The Colony on Netflix last night - don't bother is the only thing I can recommend about it.

One of my favourite genres, sadly not that many good movies or TV shows

Ones I've enjoyed:

  • Mad Max series
  • Waterworld (Much maligned!)
  • The 100 (series)
  • By Dawn's Early Light

Ones I did not:

  • Postman (book is far superior)
  • Judge Dread (Stallone version)

Thing I plan to watch which may or may not be decent:

  • The Book of Eli
  • The Road (I've read and enjoyed the book)
  • Judge Dread (Karl Urban version)

Books/Games I'd like to see become movies/tv shows

  • A Canticle for Leibowitz
  • Emberverse series
  • The Postman (without Kevin Costner!)
  • Fallout Series (apparently a tv series is coming)

The majority are just so 'Z' grade and corny, they have now become cult movies. Attack of the Killer Tomato's, which has been made 3 times, yes 3 times!

What are peoples thoughts on the anime "Akira"? I understand this is a very popular Japanese series of manga concerning 'End of World' etc. It garners an 8/10. I am not a huge fan of anime/manga but did enjoy the "Ghost in the Shell" anime.

PS: Thoroughly enjoyed "The Book of Eli" Denzel Washington - 8/10

Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.

I was more looking for a hard copy to purchase. Might have to settle for a rental, I guess.
